Pier Into Abyss // A glimpse into the photography project of lifetime (35mm)

We are animals. We are artists. The very essence of our existence is to craft reality as we see it, twist it, distort and manipulate it until it resembles the figments of our imagination. Only then are we truly free to stare in awe. The human brain is a powerful machine, ultimately our brain is part of a natural world, it is the organic computer of our existence.

The project I want to discuss with you today is a truly organic collaboration between man, chemistry, time/ space and the natural world. It is a lifetime in the making, full of nostalgia, regret, neglect and chance.

The process although unlikely to be emulated by anyone else is currently a powerful secret I hold with my collaborator Dan The Artist and unfortunately can't yet be discussed at this stage but we have decided that we will start to slowly introduce it to the hive community that we so dearly love, before we take the contrived Art world by storm.

I asked Dan to try and explain his concept of creating Art in a single sentence and he said this "I use midi to make analogue film 'sing' in the digital realm".

It's a very powerful statement that was made off-the-cuff. We certainly do live in a digital world. Something I discuss often on here. We are both passionate about merging the disappearing analogue world with the fast paced/ hyper reactive digital one and this project is exactly that.

All the images displayed here are organic and are born from a single 35mm negative which can be viewed in full at the end of this post. They date from a forgotten period of our lives. A time when we were children and the world was an Oyster, maybe not for the elders of our time. The world has always had it's issues with politics and pain but that time when we were young, naïve and pure, we all share. Shaped by experience, corrupted by power and eventually liberated by our minds.

So, take a deep breathe, roll a joint, make a cup of herbal tea, a coffee, assume a yoga pose or go crazy and take a line of Ketamine.
