A Blind Rickshaw Driver, A Drunk Crab & Various Other Elements of a Subcontinent // From The Vault

Good evening Hivers & Photography Lovers, it's me again. Tonight dish contains some images from my India collection. Quite a mixed bunch of scenes. I know I moan a lot about the place, I really do hate it to be honest, one of the worst years of my life living there, but alas, I will keep this post positive and we can look at the photographs and ignore all the negatives.

First up is a blindman in Allahbad who works as a Rickshaw driver. How he manages to weave his cart between the hustle is beknown to me. Allahbad was cool. One of the more rural cities I visited that gets few travellers. It lies on the between two rivers, one being the Holy Ganges where both bodies of water merge into one.

This image is a little poke at the pollution. It is a staged shot and crab is deceased. It was shot in Anjuna, Goa whilst I trailed the shoreline studying all the rock pools for interesting critters.

The street dogs were the best part of India, and as my regular visitors to this page know I brought two of them home with me. That was almost 8 years ago now and yes, they are both still alive and healthy. One lives with me and the other with my ex-wife. They are incredibly clever and it was sad to split them but it sure is a lot easier to manage one than two. They are like Wolves, they'll eat you up, or your dinner for that matter.

Another one for the regulars. Mr Leonard, a trusty model in my street photography career. He is my very best friend but we see less of each other these days, as he has chosen to leave Edinburgh 7 years and grace the crooked alleyways of Berlin. He is must more suited to Berlin, there he has been able to find his true self.

Ahhh, the faithful Baba. He holds a packet of Gutka, an intense, addictive and dangerous strain of chewing tobacco that has gripped the poorer communities of India. I never tried it for a variety of reasons, it looks and smells completely rancid and it stains your teeth almost instantly. I didn't go to India for gum cancer.

I shot this Jumping Spider in Palolem, Goa in the first week I arrived. It was my actual honeymoon and the memories are still good despite how we are these days. This image led to my obsession with macro photography which ultimately ended in me getting one tattooed on my arm. Happy days.

Hazel my ex-partner petting a stray dog while the man in the stall rustles us up a snack. This was on-route to the abandoned Beatles Ashram where the band wrote the White album. A place heavily featured in my posts.

Just a monkey in Dharamshala, deep in the Indian Himalaya chilling on a tree. There are two monkeys in this photo. Can you spot the other one? Its not really that hard to be honest. Just a little fun.

And last but not least a nice landscape of the rock pools where I staged the image of the partying dead crab. It really did look this beautiful in real life. Zero photoshop in that one.

As always leave a comment if you like. I hope you all had a superb day.
Love you all dearly!
Cotton x

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah the crab is fun and the monkeys too. The monkeys were cheeky though, little thieves!
