Wild on San Juan
Sick on San Juan Island. But never sick of. Rain comes and goes. We putter around the island. Slow, lazy walks, my little guy and I. I'd rather be sick here than sad in bed.
And isn't it funny, how when you slow down, you see so much more.
When I first visited the island I was resolved to move here. But it takes money to live here, lots of money, or lots of giving mind-numbing relaxation massages to yacht-owners and nature-deprived tourists in dark rooms with bad music and then going home after sunset to my basement studio apartment with no view of anything. And while I have contemplated humanely murdering the hermit-like host who runs the campground, moving into his on-site rangers cabin right there on the water, and taking over his job, it doesn't seem likely I will get away with it. People will probably notice I'm not the same guy. If the sudden reduction in height doesn't give it away the sudden appearance of boobs surely will.
But I've come to the gentle realization that if I lived here that there would be times when I would want to leave.
I never want to leave when I come here.
I'd like to keep it that way.

I think there's something written about this pig on a placard at English Camp on the island. There's a trail over there that feels seriously haunted. Maybe it's the pig.

We started the birthday ritual in 2020. Since then I've been up there I think 5 times. Waited a whole year this last time because of scheduling conflicts. But we like to go up there as often as we can. Takes six plus hours to get there, though.
Seems like a great tradition :) ... And yes, I can imagine getting the camp host job could be difficult, lol

Say them you are a sister-in-law (sounds strange so nobody will think it's a lie), say the guy is at hospital in the mainland. You only need to generate several hundreds of images of the host at a hospital ward. I recommend Midjourney. If someone asks too many questions, just start showing these images, and they will leave you alone after a hundred.

Start a campaign against racism on the island. Against racism because many people will support it. And, probably, the local administration will be glad they have got such an activist. Collect funds (as charity) for wood, meat (with large bones) for grill + colorful flags for decoration of the event.
At the day of anti-racist performance, cover the body with plastic to make it look a dummy and put a KKK costume on it. Then, transport it to the island's main square, already decorated with colorful flags, and burn it in the fire to the applause of the crowd. People will celebrate and eat grilled meat. Those bones will go into the fire too. They will subsequently disguise the human bones remaining from the body.
Thus, you will make the world a better place, and, at the same time, get rid of the corpse without spending a cent from your pocket. You'll also get popularity and friends in the local administration. It may become a good start for a political carrier, by the way.
