Rest Your Eyes On THIS
We don't need to see the parking lot, its overflowing litter bins, its trash and doggy doo-doo that line the perimeter. No need to take notice of the slow streams of unidentified fluid pooling outside the potty facilities. And let us disregard the picnic tables and parked cars and placards naming names we will forget as soon as we turn away.
All we need is to get out of the car at golden hour, camera slung around the neck and little dog on a string. We'll stretch our legs and stroll beyond all the clutter, all the urgent poopers. Feet on the gravel, crunch, crunch, crunch. Pass all the people stuff to the edge of the barbed-wire fence and look upon the Nevadan majesty that never ceases to astound us each time we pass through.

Beautiful mountains.
The ability to see beauty, to focus on it, even if it is actually somewhere in the background behind piles of poop, is priceless.
I agree, although the mountains were so spectacular in that light that there was considerable risk of not seeing the piles of poop at all... and the discovery of that error later once tracked inside the car.

They do. Spotted them recently, same area, high up in a tree. Would they come down to the ground. Nope. Nadda. Not happening. One in said tree, had some nest material dangling. I know it saw me stalking it on the ground, despite all my blending efforts. It called out a single CAW as it took off from the tree. Busy nest building. No time for socializing. Yes, I did leave treats.
Nesting time is super serious. Gotta defend the best trees and build the toughest nests. No time for snacks!
Give it a few weeks, when the dudes are stuck finding food for mama and babies all on their own all day long. You'll be a hero.
Nesting most definitely is. Lots of competition in the city, even though one of the names this place has is "city of trees". The solitary caw sounded like a hello based on how it all went down.😂

The last pic is my favourite tbh. I don't know who would think of taking a picture of a wire, but I love how simple and also how amazing the mountains look behind it :)

I think I'm having a hallucinatory experience. I got caught on that barbed wire. My legs are bleeding crimson cuts that aren't cute in cotton.
Shit, you weren't supposed to jump over the wire. You could have just walked half a mile south on the highway and taken that gravel road.
This reminds me of a very faint childhood memory I have of my knees bleeding through tights that somehow didn't tear even though my skin did.
I don't know about jumping, walking, don't know what's going on....seem to be stuck in this hallucination....wHin vested IS this trip gonnda den.....

Thank you! I really wanted to drive down that road but I wasn't sure if that would have been trespassing and I didn't want to run into some dude with a shotgun and a bad attitude towards women.
Love how the golden hour looks on the peaks of the mountains. Unfortunately, I never managed to take good pictures of it due to not owning a camera but a pretty bad phone so I only kept those memories stored somewhere in my heart. Now, thanks to your post, I can delight my eyes over and over again! Great shots! <3
