from the road
I couldn't tell you how many miles I traveled last year. If I had to guess I would say upwards of thirty thousand. A majority of those miles were logged in the air: from Portland to Japan and back again, and from Portland to Amsterdam and back again, totaling somewhere around twenty-thousand. About 38 of those were by ferry through the Salish Sea, from Anacortes to Friday Harbor and back again. The rest were by road.
I have to say, as grueling and demanding as the road can be, it is by far my favorite way to travel. Dog as my copilot and the freedom to stop and look at whatever I chose. Oh, the freedom.
Shitty things can happen in the span of a year. Shitty things happen in the span of a life. We have no control over anything outside of our own actions. Sometimes we barely maintain control over those. But looking back at what I did have control over for 2023, I find myself jumping up and down and clapping my hands and crying again! again!
Gratitude.
From the road.
For this life.

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge, held daily in the Black and White Community.
Give it a try. It's better than not trying at all ever and regretting it on your deathbed. #youonlyrememberthislife

Let's go.
Travel far and wide kept you busy last year, time flies...
Captured moments from driving with puppy at your side reflect contentment through detail to stop simply taking in that memory.

Time really does fly. I think I will not be going overseas this year, though. Need more puppy time and puppy road time.
Puppy time and road time with puppy sounds good, no matter where you wander enjoy!
Thank you so much!!
