My Entry For The Shadow Hunters Contest Smash ~ Round 412

The tree splits the night open.
A wound where light forgets itself.
I stand close, almost pulled in.
Some spaces do not want names.

The clock of life, I have been a part of.
Years passed by, and I never wanted them to.
Continuous loops, living, I never made the decision to stick. I spawned and that is how it started.
The wanderers moving through phases, i have seen them clinging.
They were completely oblivious to the fact that they were being watched.
Different behaviours, tones I could not adhere to.

Roads were constructed in front of me, endless torture endured.
The breezes and the winds took away the nearby ones.
The weather shifted, a conspiracy to get me, but I stood.
In that, I have lost everything, my skin, youth, and vibrancy.

I breathed and witnessed the humans as they went along with their lives,
the parts they showed as they lived.

I stand now, tall and aged,
unappealing and crooked.
Yet they stop and linger.

The parts I have absorbed over the years reflect.
They see me now, what I have become.

A witness I have been.
The sorrow and pain spotted.
Humans, with keen eyes, admire.
