Chapinero Alto, a cool neighborhood in Bogotá [ENG-SP]

Chapinero Alto, Bogotá

The days go by and I still have things to share about my trip to Bogota last January. I haven't been very active lately posting on Hive. Offline life has been busy in the last few months, but I'm not complaining.

Today I'm going to show you more pictures of the neighborhood where I was staying most of my stay in the capital of Colombia, Chapinero Alto. The area was a great choice. It is a central neighborhood that makes mobility in the middle of the overwhelming traffic of Bogota easy and at the same time is an area with a lot of charm, and I found it very safe. I already showed you a little bit in A little walk in Chapinero Alto and a yummy lunch. And today I show you a little more.

The Streets

Most of the streets in the area were quiet at any time of the day, but even though they were not very busy I never felt unsafe walking around.

ChapineroAltoStreets_2.jpg

In many of the streets even though they are mostly quiet, there are cafes, restaurants, and bars.

ChapineroAltoStreets_4.jpg

The neighborhood is a mix of old houses and modern residential buildings. Many of the streets are steep as the area is very close to the eastern hills that border the city to the east.

ChapineroAltoStreets_5.jpg

The Flowers

Being Bogota a city where it is easy to find flowers, this neighborhood is no exception, and in its streets, it is common to find bushes with flowers, like these Hydrangeas.

ChapineroAltoFlowers_1.jpg

Or these that Google Lens tells me are called Abutilon and I think are very curious. It looks like the petals have capillary vessels, don't you think?

ChapineroAltoFlowers_2.jpg

The Houses

Along the streets I walked every day there were some beautiful houses. Some of more recent construction, as this one seems to be. Where a well-known restaurant in the city is located. Which I didn't go to, by the way ;)

ChapineroAltoHouses_1.jpg

Others look like they are older. And I love the style of these houses with their large windows and attic.

ChapineroAltoHouses_2.jpg

This one was right next to the building where I stayed.

The Street Art

One day walking down one of the streets, I saw that a guy was painting a mural of an angel. I didn't get to find out what kind of business was operating in the house on whose wall they were painting the mural.

ChapineroAltoStreeArt_1.jpg

But a couple of days later, I passed by again and saw that the mural was ready.

The Food

As I mentioned before, there are many dining options in the area. My favorite was by far a Japanese restaurant located a block away from where I was staying. It is called Innatto San and I liked it so much that I went three times.

The first time I had chicken Ramen, delicious!

ChapineroAltoFood_3.jpg

That day I sat at the bar right in front of where they cooked the food, so that made me crave some of the dishes they were preparing.

So one day, I went back for lunch and tried one of their rice dishes. The Natto Rice.

ChapineroAltoFood_1.jpg

And another day, I went for dinner for a roll that I had been craving since I saw how they made it the first time I went. It was a tempura shrimp roll but it was covered with white fish made into ceviche. It was exquisite!

ChapineroAltoFood_2.jpg

I loved the neighborhood. On a previous visit to Bogota, I stayed in the north of the city, but Chapinero Alto seemed much more convenient for anyone visiting the city who wants to walk around and visit the city center and not waste hours in traffic. And it has everything you could need for a pleasant and safe stay. If I visit Bogota again, it would certainly be my first choice in areas to stay.

Thanks for reading!

If I had to say just from the first pictures where they where taken, I would have said it was from England. I wouldn't expect such pictures from Bogota. Lovely :-)

I was also very surprised the first time I visited the city to find some neighborhoods that look like something out of an English postcard.

Thanks for the support and for picking my blog for @ourpick :)

What a beautiful neighborhood, the streets look quiet, just as you mention.
What I like about the neighborhood, in addition to the architecture of the buildings, is the great presence of nature in its streets, there are really beautiful flowers, another beautiful thing that I loved is the street art
Thank you very much dear friend @coquicoin for sharing this beautiful experience lived in this beautiful neighborhood

Hello @jlufer
I also like it very much when there is nature in the neighborhoods and Bogota even though it has overpopulated areas has a lot of green areas and parks too.
Have a great weekend 🤗

Saludos!

It is so exciting when looking at the neighborhood of such distant cities as Bogata. The houses are so big and beautiful, they look like castles. I also like flowers. My grandmother had hydrangeas in her garden, lots of them. And the food looks delicious, especially the ramen. I love it. 🤗

Hello, dear Jelena. That area of the city is beautiful and different from the buildings in the more touristy places that are from the colonial era.

The food in that restaurant was all exquisite, and the most surprising thing was the price, very affordable. I hope you can visit someday distant cities for you as Bogota and Caracas, hehe 😉🤗
