Hello Hivers and photography lovers.

This week I thought about joining the Deranged Photography Contest. I haven't participated in it in a while. But this week's theme, Buildings, caught my eye. And I thought that a good set of photos I have of an impressive building is the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

This cathedral is considered to be the most important Romanesque art building in Spain. And its baroque gothic style is very imposing.

It is impressive to see the huge building, in the no less impressive, Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela.

Since the Middle Ages, this spot has been the destination of one of the most important pilgrimage routes of Catholicism in Europe. The cathedral is built on the site where, according to history, the Apostle St. James the Greater was buried.

These photographs were taken on a visit to Santiago de Compostela in December 2019. And while the cathedral is always impressive, I remember the impression of the first time I was in Santiago in the summer of 2010. And the Obradoiro square was full of pilgrims.

The current cathedral, which replaced a much smaller temple, was started to be built in 1075, and its construction lasted until 1211. Source.

During our visit in 2019, the interior of the temple was under restoration, and although it was possible to visit the tomb of the apostle, the entire interior of the cathedral was covered with scaffolding, so I did not take photos of the interior, nor could we see the Butafumeiro on that occasion.

So this is my entry for the Deranged Photography Contest in the tier Amateur for this week's theme Buildings.

Thank you very much for reading.

All photographs are of the façade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, which faces the Plaza del Obradoiro. All are my own and were taken in December 2019 in Santiago de Compostela.

That's a huge building with wonderful architecture. I can feel you when you couldn't see the inner architecture at your visit. Hehe. It leaves us with a longing to be able to see what we couldn't, doesn't it?

That's a nice entry @coquicoin. Good luck for the contest

Thank you, Amber. It was a little disappointing not to be able to see the inside of the Cathedral in all its splendor. But at least I had been there before, and I know what I was missing, but for those who are visiting such a place for the first time to arrive and not be able to see it is quite frustrating.
Thank you for stopping by 🤗

Saludos :)

Hello, Super Ed! Happy Friday!
We should use Liketu more often. It's a good format for posting but I hardly remember to use it. I'm sure you have more than one choice of awesome buildings that you could use to enter the contest.
Have a great day:) I'm on my second coffee cup ;)
