Wandering Downtown
Weather was too nice yesterday to not be outside, so I took my wide angle for a walk around downtown. Didn't get done editing until today but I'm still calling it a #WednesdayWalk.
Was mainly aiming to shoot reflections but the 2nd Street bridge tempted me into walking out over the Ohio River and shooting a few cityscapes too.
Never did get the B&W to my satisfaction so y'alls getting this one in color.
Don't you just love a nice, scenic riverfront interstate? I-64 runs right along the river through downtown but with the Ohio's fondness for getting out of its banks and going for a jaunt, it's probably just about the only thing they could put there.
The hunt for reflections got off to a rocky start.
Things started looking up pretty quickly though.
Got a bit distracted by the biggest damn hotel in the state, the Galt House. John Galt was nowhere to be found however.
Just a few steps away from the Galt House is the scene of your next mugging. Well, maybe not but I'm pretty sure it's in every episode of Law & Order.
Those steps led to the dark, dank underbelly of the city. Or at least the riverfront.
A denizen of these depths had left a cryptic inscription. Can any of y'all make heads or tails of it?
Oh yeah, those reflection things.
Disappointingly, that building isn't actually skewed like that, just the wide angle working its magic.
For some shots nothing but a wide angle will do.
Upon further reflection, that's probably enough for one day.
That first pic drew me here against my will. I have a lot of different things I am doing, but here I am putting them all on hold. It has been a better use of my time.
Thanks!
It had a similar effect on me in person, I was heading back to my car to go home but happened to notice that and couldn't pass it up.
Thanks for dropping by!

Thank you, for this and the boost!
I love the first picture, with that photographic angle you captured symmetry and geometric shapes in the composition.
Nice to see rich/starving contrasts on point like massive hotels and car jacking parking lots.
What can I say, it's a city of contrasts... In a way it's kind of nice, the tourists tend to not stray too far from their hotels.
Yay! 🤗

Awesome walk and shots and yes for me it counts as a Wednesday Walk, I only say if possible to share on a Wednesday :)
I cant make any sense out of that inscription
Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
The intent was there but the time wasn't quite :)
Ha, good to know I'm not the only one.
