Here We Go Again Again

The more things change the more they stay the same. We're not yet three years out from that long hot summer of 2020 and despite all the fine words and token actions we find not much has really changed.

Much like the thoughts and prayers for mass shootings, we keep reforming the police and yet the same shit keeps happening.

Yet another fucking name to say. Tyre Nichols was murdered, beaten to death by five black cops only 100 yards from his mother's home. Seems the bad apples they're always talking about have gone and spoiled the bunch.

Cops killed a forest defender in Atlanta last week, between that and Tyre Nichols it's starting to feel like 2020 all over again, that same rapid succession of death and outrage. Kind of surprised Memphis isn't burning tonight but they seem to have timed the release of the videos to preclude that...at least for tonight.

The speed with which the officers were fired and charged has been held up as proof that 'the system' is working. Bit hard to swallow, you'd think police brutality wouldn't be a feature of a working system.
