Foolin' Around In The Forest

Got to spend a bit of time wandering about Bernheim Forest recently, naturally the camera came along for the ride down I-65.

For being in a forest, it was the critters that really caught my eye. The forest is the largest privately owned natural area in the state of Kentucky, which makes for a whole host of things crawling, flying, or simply sunning themselves in a break in the canopy.

Don't quite remember what sort of critter this was, but it was giant.

We didn't spot any, but you could dam well tell that there were some busy beavers calling Bernheim home.

Barn swallows are a tough audience for migrating coconut jokes.

Fortunately, we had turtle power to protect us. They looked too big to be teenagers though. Has anybody heard when they're going to finally get around to making 'Middle-aged Mutant Ninja Turtles'?

On that note, should probably float on out of here myself...

Beautiful photos. Especially those with reflections in the water.

Thank you :) The beavers had dammed part of a lake, the water behind the dam was so still, couldn't have asked for better reflections.
