Fair Enough

This is probably getting fairly close to 'beating a dead horse' territory, but I had to go back to the Kentucky State Fair one more time.

Made it over to the fairgrounds yesterday afternoon for one last dose of excess and consumption. It was the final day, and with the unseasonably cool weather (for here) there was quite the crowd hanging out.

Peak people watching only lasts for eleven days, got too caught up in trying to make the most of it to remember to check out the obese pumpkin contest. Anyone else find those weird? 'Let's grow giant, inedible squash for bragging rights!' What? Now when they get a 'Largest Hornets nest' contest going I'll be impressed.

Who doesn't love the rides at the fair? To be fair, there's always rides at the fairgrounds, it's actually got its own amusement park. It's always seemed a bit strange to me, you can hop on the Ferris Wheel at the state fair and see the much larger Ferris Wheel in Kentucky Kingdom just a few parking lots away.

Even the Mona Lisa is falling apart. Or at least slumming it on the fair circuit. It's all fun and games until Project Mayhem finds out.

Games were in abundance, although there'd been a bit of inflation in their prices, but the prizes were playing the shrinkflation game.

Everybody is selling out these days. . . The fudge was good earlier in the week but they'd fudged the numbers for the final day and there was no more to be had. That's the downside to catching the last day of the fair, everybody is trying to pack up and carry out as little inventory as possible, so you gets what you gets. Speaking of which, it's time I gets to bed. Fair thee well y'all, catch you when the sun is shining.
