About Damn Time
News broke today that four LMPD officers had caught federal charges for Breonna Taylor's death. Coming nearly two and a half years after her death it seems a bit overdue.
Late is better than never I suppose but it still sticks in your craw that it took so long. With state and local officials seemingly doing their utmost to protect the officers, the FBI's investigation was the only remaining chance of seeing them held accountable.
Only one of the officers charged, Brett Hankison, actually fired shots into Breonna Taylor's apartment. The other three are charged with lying to obtain the search warrant for her apartment and then lying to investigators about that. Apparently two of them later met in a garage to coordinate their cover story. Sounds about right for LMPD.
Local media had reported on the issues with the warrant shortly after protests started here in May of 2020, and one was fired for it at the end of 2020. Kind of makes you wonder what took the FBI so long.
Charges are not the same thing as convictions so it remains to be seen whether anyone will ultimately be held accountable for what happened on March 13, 2020. Still, this is the first time in a long while that it seems like there is any chance of that happening, so I count it as promising. Until that comes to pass, SAY HER NAME!
Photos are in chronological order, one from each of the first five days of protests I attended, May 29, 2020 through June 2, 2020. Last photo is an extra from June 2nd.

Thank you, and thanks for dropping by!
love your wonderful storytelling complemented by great documentary images.
Our cops were so aggressive against the protesters during the Balfour protests in 2020-21 but finally
Chief Superintendent Niso Guetta was sentenced on Tuesday to five months of probation
Here is the video of one of MANY moments of his personal aggression, working as the sample to all the cops around.

and the words about the final justice that is returned back to the bastard like karma :-)

Looks like he would fit in well with LMPD here in Louisville. I find it interesting that he took the time to pull his mask back up in the video, the cops here didn't bother with masks except when they were trying to hide their identities. Glad he got a little of what he so richly deserved.
Thank you!
Yes, it's interesting how the cops here "respected" the rules for wearing masks, but only this rule.
they tied the masks at the back of the head so that they would not fall.
many protesters used the trick to avoid wearing masks - just used to hold a can of beer, so there is no need to wear a mask when you're drinking :-) even a can is already empty.
well, there were absolutely grotesque situations
I just hope that some more of these cops will get what they deserved.
Weird how that was reversed here. Then again if a cop saw you take a drink of beer they could arrest you for that. I got to go to jail once over that once, a couple plainclothes cops were following me when I cracked open a beer (in a brown paper bag no less) and took a swig when I was half a block from my apartment. They ran up and put the shiny bracelets on and took me to jail.
I hope so too. I'm holding my breath on these arrests until I see a verdict.
wowowow that sounds crazy bro.
i know that our dictatorship wasn't too tight but still we felt the force they pressed and the progressive people remembered the freedom that was in real danger these crazy days, so why people protested so furiously
