Sip and Savour: A Visit to Tavisa Beer Cafe in Chikmagalur, India.
Have you ever stumbled upon a place that is so aesthetically pleasing that you’re not sure how the food is going to taste? That’s exactly what happened to me when I visited this culinary adventure at Chikmagalur. ⛰️
The reason I am stating this is that many times we enter a restaurant that is so beautiful in the architecture but lacks culinary expertise. After a huge meal, you walk out completely shocked and disappointed from the expectations you had built up in your head.
I had heard whispers about Tavisa, the beer cafe, from fellow coffee planters who spoke about this new food destination. 🍻 Some of them even posted candid shots of themselves, having a beer or mock-tail. Apparently, this had become the “it” spot within less than a month for most of the planters and their friends to connect over the week’s events.
Walking into Tavisa, I was immediately captivated by the floral ambience adorning every corner. Cascading blooms gracefully hung from each window edge. The white walls provided a crisp, clean backdrop that made the vibrant flowers pop, adding a touch of whimsy and elegance to the space. Large blue windows framed the room, allowing streams of natural light to bathe the interior in a soft, inviting glow. The seating was charming, with elevated chairs that offered a view of the city. Some high top stylish chair had a perfect view of the entire restaurant, from the bustling kitchen to the drinks counter and the filled tables of customers enjoying the good times.
Not gonna lie, most of my pictures felt very personalised, but I wanted to capture how beautiful the space was and how palatable the grand food across the table seemed. The only way I could show it was to showcase others pictures and add the source so that you can find it on different apps yourself. Just look at how filled the table looks! Makes me want to grab a knife and fork and dig in. 🍴
The best part about Tavisa is that they serve a global cuisine.
Can you imagine what Tavisa means?
Let me not keep you hanging!
Tavisa stands for ‘The Visa’ meaning that they will get you slurping all kinds of global cuisines from the world trip, just by sitting at the table. 😉
Can you notice that the ceiling is not opaque, and the light falls through giving the seats a pop of the daylight?
The longest seating tables can accommodate a minimum of 10 people. The White and grey combination isn’t just seen on the perching chairs but also on the flooring. The tiles are adorned with beautiful grey designs.
Some of the ceilings are decorated more beautiful than expected. Handwoven hanging cane lamps and decorations add a touch of local artisans, showcasing the creativity and skill of those who crafted the intricate cane designs. 🧵 These elements not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the place, but also provide a warm inviting atmosphere that makes you appreciate the blend of modern design with traditional craftsmanship. The attention to detail in every corner of the cafe truly highlights the dedication to creating a unique and memorable experience for visitors.
The savoury, saucy and selective meats steal the show. The spiced up greens are mouthwatering, especially the Tandoori Malai broccoli, which you can see in the next picture. Each dish is meticulously prepared to balance flavours and textures, making every bite a delightful experience. The rich, aromatic spices, and the perfectly cooking and vegetables, demonstrate the culinary expertise behind each creation, leaving you eager to try more.

The Ambience
The four chairs are perfect for a nuclear family, that’s come to enjoy this quaint restaurant. Sharing this beautiful space with my parents may the experience even more special. We started with the selection of cream of mushroom soup. Then move onto some of the appetisers like the Malai chicken and Chicken dumplings 🥟
The wall refilled with black and white drawings that if you keep seeing them individually, you realise it keeps getting crazier. Did you notice the monkey drinking alcohol from the barrel 😂🙈 well, it’s a monkey man to be more precise and a lady watering her flowery head.🌻🫖
Last but not the least, this is my parents, enjoying their meal while I get to capture the restaurant in all its glory. Although this seating was a bit in a dark corner, and it was quite empty since we came early to have our lunch. 🥙
Here are more designs for you to look at and admire the walls around the table we were sitting across.
I must admit that the drinks that they are so potent and delicious 🤤
As you can see, the colour in this glass is so vibrant and zesty at the same time.
If you’re not coming here for the cocktails, then you’re definitely going to have a beer with your peers. Considering it’s a beer cafe, this is a perfect spot to get your mugs clinking and having chattery conversations.
I couldn’t even leave, capturing the table top, considering how much design has even gone into this. ✨
And a TV to distract you while you’re waiting for the dishes to arrive or get captured with the long list of dishes on the menu.
When I’m saying this, I am not even exaggerating!!!
The brownie with vanilla ice cream is topped with decadent chocolate that leave you smack your lips. One of the best brownies I ever had. It was so smooth and crumbly, even the ice cream didn’t have much to do other than soak it more and make more creamy.
If you’re looking for a dining experience, that delights all your senses and it’s perfect for your family gatherings, this is definitely the place to be. The beautiful ambience and elegant setting creates such a charm that can only be experienced here beyond the mountains.
This is the place to make new memories and reminisce about the relished taste of the dishes. My quest for a perfect meal has led to the dainty Tavisa. A place with effortless combination of culinary excellence with stunning decor, an experience worth sharing with my parents.
That’s about it from me today, it was great sharing my experience with you HIVERS. What’s your favourite continental dish that you would relish. 😁🍴
