Night at Soka, Bangalore

An Evening That Began with a Simple Plan

Some evenings begin with no grand plans, yet end up feeling unforgettable. That’s exactly what happened when my cousin and I found ourselves walking into Soka, Bangalore, one quiet evening at 8 PM. Nestled away from the chaos of the city, Soka welcomes you with a grand sign and a busy crowd.

A Small Space, Big on Heart

The first thing we noticed was how intimate and inviting the place felt. A cozy brown couch lined one side, bathed in soft golden lights that glowed in the dim of the room, and filled with the kind of ambiance that makes conversations feel deeper and laughter feel lighter.

Though small in size, the space was buzzing with joy. There was a birthday celebration happening just a few tables away, filling the air with cheerful wishes, cake-cutting applause, and laughter that was so infectious, you couldn’t help but smile along.

Plates That Tell a Story

We began with the Grilled Chicken Skewers paired with Mango Salsa. The dish arrived beautifully plated, the grilled chicken perfectly charred yet juicy, resting alongside a mango salsa that struck the perfect balance between tangy and sweet. Every bite was familiar yet exciting.

But the dish that truly left us in awe was the Chicken Gyoza in Malai Coconut Cream presented on a blush-pink dish that instantly caught our attention. The cream was luxuriously smooth, embracing the tender gyoza in a comforting hug of flavors.

The pink plate made the moment sweeter. It reminded us of the pink ceramic espresso cups we had bought together a few months ago. Small indulgences from a past adventure, now reflected in the dish before us.

A Cup of Nostalgia

At the start, when we sat in our seats, the server asked for our details and entered them into his phone. The seats were reserved for us till 11 pm. Soon, he brought out a charming little cup filled with multicoloured fryums.

The fryums, those nostalgic little snacks we grew up eating, added a playful, childlike joy to the table. Here we were, in a beautifully moody spot, crunching on rainbow fryums from a dainty ceramic cup. It’s little touches like these that turn meals into memories.

Heaven, Served in a Glass

To pair with our meal, we ordered a drink with a name too intriguing to resist: “Made in Heaven.” And it truly lived up to its name.

The drink was a delicate blend of floral and citrus notes, with just enough sweetness to lift your spirits without overpowering the palate. Each sip was refreshing, smooth, and layered, leaving behind a lingering calmness, like a gentle sigh at the end of a perfect day.

The Heartbeat of the Space

Beyond the food and drinks, what truly made the evening special was the energy of the crowd. The space, though limited in size, felt expansive with joy. The birthday group’s cheerfulness, the subtle clinking of glasses, the hums of conversations, all of it blended into an atmosphere where you felt welcomed, whether you were part of a celebration or simply sharing a quiet meal with someone close.

Ever in Bangalore and craving an experience that feels warm? Then stop by Soka. Order the gyoza, sip on Made in Heaven, snack on fryums like a happy child, and soak in the laughter around you.

If you find yourself visiting Soka, let me know what you tried and loved. Here’s to many more cozy corners, beautiful plates, and laughter-filled nights.

Until next time,
