Day 2 in Munnar

avatar

If you have gone through my previous post, First Trip to God's Own Country - Munnar - Day 1, I have explained little bit about the beauty of Munnar and how I went there after so many years and how mesmerizing the views are there. Now the Day 2, started by actually visiting one of the tea garden and clicking a lot of pictures. The place is actually called as Photo Point.

Photo Point

In munnar you can actually get a lot of Photo Points where you can click pictures inside the tea garden. Most of these tea gardens are private, that means either you have to pay and get entry or there will be barricade that means you cannot enter. We have paid Rs 20 each to get inside of these Photo points. Some of the pictures are,

Rock Cave

We have not gone inside this cave, as because first of all no one was there and second we were scared of bats. And with Covid in our mind, we were really scared of bats. So thought of not going inside it.

Elephant Safari

Our next stop was on the elephant safari. We're you can actually fees the elephants and go for a ride on elephants. Top be honest it was good but little expensive so we have not tried it but got glimpse of some elephants.

Cactus Focussed Botanical Garden

There are more than 4 botanical gardens are there in Munnar and every other has something to offer. But since we did not had much time, we have decided to go one of them. This one is mainly focused on cactus and they have a large variety of cactus plants in the garden. Though they have other plants too but most of them were cactus.

The good thing about this garden was that, it was designed in such a way that you do not have to walk a lot unlike other botanical gardens. And it is again on of the picturesque location to get great photos. Some glimpses,

As you can see there might be 100s of different plants in the exhibition and most of them were cactus. The entry fee was Rs 50 per head and we felt it was worth it. The maintainance of this many plants take a lot of time and the garden owners have done a remarkable job in that.

Lake or Echo Point

Lake is a must visit in any hill station. And similarly we have also visited one of them. The place is also called as Echo Point where you can hear Echo from the other end. It was not happening when we were there mainly because the trees on the other side of the lake srinked than it used to be. So the name remains but Echo were not there.

Last but not least - Top Station

As the name suggests it is one of the highest peak in Munnar where you can actually go to the top by your own vehicle. We reached there by 2 PM and we found fog everywhere which looked awesome. It was my favorite place in Munnar and if I go again, I would surely visit this place. Tha place comes under Tamil Nadu and you can see the range of mountains from here.

You have to keep you vehicle and walk for around 500 meters to see the mountain range. Along with that you can actually go 200 meters down by trekking to see more closer look. We have gone down and it was little tiring but was worth it to see the fog and mountain so closely.

So if you are going to Munnar, do not skip the Top Station. It is one of the main attraction in Munnar. After thar we started to come down and stopped to drink coffee. The place where we stopped was awesome, from were we can see all the tea gardens and click great photos too.

After spending like 30 minutes in this beautiful place we came down. As I have mentioned in my previous post that we have taken a scooty on rent for roaming around. It turns out to be a great decision because we can spend that much time as we wanted. We spent most if our time in the Top Station as well as stopped whenever we see some great looking landscape. So if you are planning to go, do try to rent a scooty if you can.

We came down, gave the scooty back and boarded our bus to came back to Bangalore. It was a great weekend trip. I feel we have rushed a little but as because I did not wanted to take leave. But spending 3 days in Munnar is needed. Though it's about personal preference though, some likes to go in a place to relax whereas I tend to explore more and more places wherever I visit any place. So yeah it was a great weekend trip for us and hope you have enjoyed reading the post.

What a magical day! Thanks for entering the Photo Point for showing us such beautiful photos! 😀 You must've enjoyed it. Everything looks so interesting. My mom rode an elephant once as well and she loves this animal. I think they are so pretty, especially the babies. 😊
