Waterfall Walk

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share a few photos from an old waterfall we went to the other day!

Waterfall Walk

One of my favorite things about trying to find fishing spots for me and my son to enjoy, is that sometimes you stumble upon a truly beautiful place!

My son and I have been going on father-son fishing adventures for many years now. It's a wonderful time, and also sad at the same time because he is getting older, and not being so much of my little boy. It's an important stage of his development of course, and there is no way I would want it a different way but we do get to reflect back on the wonderful times at least!

I often wonder why my son is naturally a fascinated kid with running water of any kind. We are constantly finding waterfalls, little brooks and other things on our walks and he just jumps off the trail or wherever we are going and hangs out to take a look. I don't blame him, really, because running water is truly a beautiful sight to see!

There are so many unique and interesting things in the look of water as it's flowing. I think an important one for me as well is the awesome sound of it all. I for sure love the sound of the beach, with the waves hitting the rocks or sand and making that nice low-roaring and rolling sound as the water retreats.

What I think I prefer a bit more is the sound of a nice waterfall or cascading type of water like a rolling river over rocks and stuff. It produces such an interesting and calming sound that it's really not like many other things. I know that there is certainly a lot to be said about the relaxing sound of ocean waves, but there is also a lot to a nice waterfall!

This waterfall here is for sure pretty damn cool, in that it used to be a part of history where it was an old mill. Obviously the pond has been here for a really long time, I wonder if it's hundreds of years old at this point but you never know. Building a mill to do mechanical work is certainly one of the great achievements of the people in the past.

I think that's also one of the best parts about humans. For better or worse, we are always building and inventing things! I do wonder what this is going to look like in the age of AI. Are we going to be helped, or hurt by the assistance of an AI bot? I can certainly go either way on that, but the pessimistic part of me thinks that it's likely to go the negative way, considering how the world is in present state regardless of what AI can and has done.

One of the fun things about the waterfall is that it's largely empty and quiet when we are there. I think one of the sad things about it is that the fishing is absolutely garbage lol. There are really no good fish in it which kind of sucks. I get why there aren't many good fish.. sadly there are a bunch of big fucking snapping turtles and they take the fish.

Still, though it's always a great time when we visit here for a few hours, knowing that the fishing is probably going to be shit, but the scenery is really a beautiful sight!

Waterfalls are such a peaceful spot to pause and reflect, and I totally agree,, there’s something magical about the sound of cascading water. It’s both calming and energizing at the same time. Maybe that's what your son is drawn to.

Yeah I think for sure he is drawn to the sound and soothe that it gives. It's his natural way to find some zen without knowing that he needs some!

Running water is fascinating and neat to witness. Falls are so cool to witness I love the sound and the sure power some produce.

Oh turtles and what they do to fish. About
10 years ago I was catfishing doing quite well and had 4 on a stringer. It came time to leave to try another spot pulled the stringer up and all fish were badly bitten up. Had to discard them all. I knew it was a turtle(s) I seen one in the area. Just never thought it would go after my fish that were close by me. From that day on I went to keep my catch in cooler filled with ice or a screened cage, haha.

Hahaha that's wild! Those damn turtles dude. The ones in this pond are freaking HUGE. The thing easily weighed 75 or 100 pounds it was a giant. Little bastard too lol very angry. Too bad the running water wouldn't calm it down LOL

Than there's the times when you actually catch them. When that happens I move because surely the fish aren't there.

Yeah lol we've had a few situations where we caught the buggers! As soon as I see them swimming around, we usually leave or move as far away as we can. 30 minutes or so before they swim on over though, hearing the splashing in the water lol fuckers.
