The Cataloging

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to appreciate cataloging and cleaning some photos that were lying dormant!

The Cataloging

Every now and then, we get a spurt of inspiration if you want to call it!

I've been procrastinating for sure.. on cataloging the photos that I've taken over the last few months! The funny and unfortunate part is I didn't really realize how much I had been procrastinating.. until I opened it up and saw how many weren't even touched lol oops.

It was some decent fun the other night where I spent about an hour going through, cataloging, making some minor edits and resaving at least a few dozen photos, but taking over a hundred photos and deleting them. It felt good to go through all of that stuff after a while!

I think these days, I have to be in the right mood in which to do this. I know it might seem a little silly, but there are a few forces at work in other areas that have kept me and my inspiration a bit dwindling for some of the things I like to do. It's life though, and one of the things that we have to realize is that we have to just keep going. I think that's one of the things some people don't get, they just want to quit. Ain't no quitting, bitch! Lol.

Taking a look through the photos was a lot of fun though, because as I've mentioned before I was able to transport myself back to the situation. It's scary and a little funny to realize just how long some of the photos were taken back.. and it only feels like a week or two ago LOL what the fuck batman? Where does the time go?!

IMG_4025.jpg

I've got plenty of things to occupy myself over the next few weeks that's for sure, because there were a number of fun adventures that we went on during the whole thing.

I think that's one of the things I've really grown to enjoy is that I don't need to go to Hawaii to have a good time and capture some beautiful photos. Sure it would be cool, but at the same time, I have plenty of wonderful things nearby that don't cost an arm and a leg, so that's a huge win for me. I think more people need to take that perspective in life. Yes it is for sure nice to go to these beautiful and exotic places, but we also have beautiful things around us if you look around! ..unless you live in Oklahoma. That's just flat LOL

IMG_3894.jpg

The really important thing for me though is that through the process, I do one of the most important aspects and that is DELETING! It's really important when we are doing this to just completely delete things. Save the good ones but chuck the fuck out the ones that are just shit and don't really do or mean anything. There are plenty of things we could be doing but collecting junk, even digital junk, is certainly not something I would like to do with my time and resources.

What about you, do you procrastinate things sometimes, and then when you get some good inspiration, dig right in? Let me know in the comments!

Yes I agree. It's also fun to take pictures of things.

When the weather is clear, when we take pictures in a place like this, everything becomes clear, and our health improves by picking and eating fresh fruit from the tree.

It's a long process. My dad started going through all of his a while ago. It's been taking him forever and most of those are old film photos, so you didn't have the quantity you get now with digital.

Oh yeah dude I couldn't imagine the film photos! Those would take forever lol. I can at least scroll through mine.. your dad doesn't have that luxury unless he digitizes them!

He has started to digitize a lot of them, but he was a freelance photographer back in the day. We even had a black and white darkroom in the house, so he has a ton of photos!

I agree! There are many ways to enjoy oneself without taking a plane to foreign land or staying in a luxury hotel. But like you said, not many people have that perspective.

Yeah I think a lot of people are sadly hoodwinked into thinking that's the best way to do it. I think there are more people realizing it's largely some BS, but it's a slow process!
