Sepia Saturday Shots

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to shift my photography post for a little bit and try to do Sepia Saturday every so often!

Sepia Saturday Shots

Playing around with the photography editing software GIMP has really taught me a lot. I know some people are a lot better at doing the various things in the photo apps like Adobe's various products but I'm of the mindset for some of the things in life to be a contrarian and go with something different :D. GIMP it is for me!

When I was editing some photos recently though to give it a tiny pop of color or to make the black and white images for my Monochrome Monday posts, I looked at the other color setting for Sepia. I am not really familiar with Sepia as a photography style but it seems to change a lot of the colors into this off-orange type thing that resembles photographs from the early 1900's. Just my take on it!

With that in mind though, I wanted to take some of the photos that I've taken over time recently and turn them into Sepia versions of the shots! I definitely like the variability of Sepia versus Monochrome or just a regular "auto" color edit to brighten things up. Sepia has a cool aspect to it! I'm going to try and periodically do a bit of a Sepia Saturday type post, because I also love needless alliterations lol though this one is missing a third word I suppose. Sexy Sepia Saturday? I would need a model to do that I guess.

I've got a lot of flowers it seems, since these pictures have a lot of them lol or buds from the trees. With it being spring though, I guess it's not an outlandish idea to have it as that. I will try and go back to some of the older photos I've got on the computer and do a bit of a transition for some of them to see how it looks!

I like the way the Sepia settings change some of the colors in the picture to something similar to smoke-stained white walls lol. It sounds weird but I've had a lot of smokers in my family and remember well the yellowish stain the walls would have because of all the smoke.

The Sepia setting makes some of the nature landscapes look pretty dramatic! I like how it mutes the colors a lot similar to Monochrome but it gives it a brighter look, which can have a different effect on the images. I like how the branches of the trees are a little more of an important part of the photo versus the buds that would be more the focus in a color shot.

Looking forward to messing around with GIMP on more of the photos and turning some others into Sepia!

I think the Auto focus on your camera is astonishing, despite the sepia feel to the shots, I still got to enjoy the outlook of the bokeh. I prefer monochromes though, it's been a really long time I've seen a sepia camera feature.

Thanks dude! Bokeh, that’s the term I keep forgetting hahaha. These photos were edited after on the open source software GIMP, my favorite! I was surprised the pictures come out as clear as they do though!

Haha it's difficult to forget sometimes especially when you're trying to refer to a photography term. Great shots.
