Reflective Monochrome Monday

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share a few photos of things we did this summer, as a way to reminisce and appreciate what happened during the summer now that it's officially over.

Reflective Monochrome Monday

The end of summertime is always bittersweet. I am a huge fan of autumn and the beautiful, and comfortable weather it brings but there is always the notion of there being a sadness to it coming to an end.

It is life though, and it goes through cycles. Birth, growth, decay and eventual death. We are in the decay phase right now, and the beauty of it is that while the weather is changing, it is the time of plenty and of harvesting. We are doing all that we can to appreciate the final few weeks of pleasant weather and growing conditions to get the maximum out of the things we hold dear such as fruits, vegetables and others, in preparation for the end of autumn and winter.

It feels good to look back at some of the photos of the beauty that is summer, and see the wonderful things that we did!

Summertime is full of plenty. I think this is what a lot of people in the modern society we live in today don't quite understand because they aren't as close to it as they should be. As I've mentioned in many posts, farms are the most important part of ANY region, and that's clear as day. Think of how much ideological wealthy people are buying up hundreds of thousands of acres of farmland to control the food supply. Control the food, control the people.

Still though, there are lots of ways that we can appreciate farms and the critical things they bring to us. The best and most entertaining is actually visiting the farms! By going to the farms and walking around, looking at the things they are growing, visiting the animals and all that, we get a much better sense of what it is to be on or near a farm. It smells gross in some areas, and absolutely wonderful in others.

Still though, we can also make a little farm ourselves! By planting gardens, big or small, we are able to offset and change how we are interacting with the ecosystem. For example just growing some herbs is a great way to save a few dollars, as it prevents you from having to buy them from the store and you also know that there isn't a bunch of shit in them if you don't want there to be!

This summer wasn't all about farms and food though, we did do some normal and fun trips to places such as the zoo. It's a lot of fun going to them, especially because my son is still at the age where he appreciates these things and appreciates spending time with his parents. Eventually he may not, we don't know, but we are soaking in the times right now while we still can!

We are looking forward to the fall weather after such a hot summer.

Your son will still enjoy doing things with you when he gets older. Mine still does.

That's good I'm glad yours still enjoys his time with you. I think mine will as well but my family doesn’t have a good record of that for various reasons lol.

We are going apple picking tomorrow, the clearest sign of autumn!

Nice shots! I'm a bit sad that my wife and I didn't make it to our local farmers market at all this summer. We usually try to go once or twice, but we were just travelling so much it didn't happen. I think if they didn't just do it on Wednesday and Saturday it might help. Wednesday's I am always working and Saturday's we are usually gone.

Yeah I hear you, some things done like up. Hopefully you get to go to some nice apple festivals or something with the upcoming autumn and harvest season! It's one of my favorite things for sure.

Stop saying that summer is over, it is not! 😇 Summer ends and autumn starts on September 22 - there are still three weeks of wonderful late summer weather ahead of us. Just this past weekend has been so wonderful. Blue skies, no humidity, puffy white clouds and sunshine, high 70s low 80s (for the Americans 😁) simply - beautiful.

p.s. I know that Americans like to refer to Labor Day = the end of summer but - I don't like this at all. Sorry, I'm not American
