Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to add some throwbacks to the mix for this weeks iteration of Monochrome Monday!

Monochrome Monday Throwbacks

Like many people who enjoy photography, one of the things is that I've got a LOT of pictures stored on my laptop and other devices lol. So many that I couldn't hope to post them all. There are some that end up just getting deleted because it's no sense in me keeping them if they aren't worthy of keeping or posting but there are also those photos that are worth keeping and another group of them are ones that I enjoy and turn into other things like Monochrome Monday pictures.

This week I wanted to enjoy some of the pictures that I've turned into monochrome in the past but not necessarily all in the same series. This is a bit of a random selection but each of these photos are ones that I enjoy!

Starting it off with the miniature train tracks. This place is a favorite of mine, because it's a family members house and boy does it bring back memories! I remember going to their house as a kid and teenager and going straight for the train room. The trains are so much fun to play with and to look at, you can get lost in the set for hours or days just with your imagination. We had a lot of fun playing with these trains here, and it was my sons first miniature train set that he got to sit down up close to and play with. He loved it!

We've been all over the place, and this place is no different. We got down to the Carolinas a few months ago to do a few things, one of them being having a nice family vacation. One of the things that we did and enjoyed was doing some fishing on the pier! The pier here is one that ends up looking very somber and serious, with the steel grey clouds and nobody out and about on the pier. It wasn't the best day weather wise that's for sure but it was great to go. We had a lot of fun and know that we will be back at some point to enjoy more!

Some of my favorite photos for sure are ones that we've taken of the fire. Fire has so many interesting and soothing properties to it, and it's really nice to sit there and stare at a fire. It makes for quite a reflective trip, if you just hang out and enjoy the warmth of it as well as allow the mood of the fire to flow over you. Taking the pictures and turning them into black and white makes them pretty dramatic I think, because it looks much more serious that way! I certainly enjoy the colors but the lack of color here makes it all the more intriguing I think. A lot of power and energy in the simple burning of the sticks!

It's always interesting to see how different photos can look in black and white. I think the monochrome photos of the miniature train tracks and the pier are especially striking. The lack of color really helps to highlight the details in the photos, and the overall effect is very atmospheric.

I also like the way you describe the fire photos. You're right, there's something very meditative about watching a fire.

Thanks for stopping by! Yeah I love the way turning something into black and white really brings out the different elements to an image that colors distract from. The black and white fire is one of my favorites! The pier though, that one seems somber and thoughtful, like one is walking to something they know will be emotionally painful perhaps. Fun stuff!

I felt that the picture of the fire place would have been more civic if it was colored. I loved the of the fishing near the pier. The train room is also beautiful. I have over 3000 pictures on my phones and the reason why I keep them, is that I take them in the first place for the purpose of content creating.

Yeah I have lots of pictures and the purpose of them is really just to have something to write about for the chain lol.

The fire in black and white is nice, I'll see if I still have the color version somewhere but black and white reminds me of a cold winter.

Hahaha, I haven't seen a winter season before, but from What I've seen online, you're right.
