Beachy Monochrome Monday
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to share a few photos from some weeks back that I recently got to editing.

Beachy Monochrome Monday
The beach.. for sure one of the most relaxing places, at least where we go!
I'm not a huge fan of the white-sandy beaches type thing. Yeah it's cool to make sand castles and stuff, and lay on the sand for a while but I am much more of an active person. I would rather be walking around the beach, playing in the water and things like that. I don't get a lot of enjoyment out of just laying on the sand..
We went to a few different beaches weeks back and I unfortunately took some time to finally get the photos onto my computer so I can use them, but it's great to finally get caught up with things like that!
The beaches that I prefer to go to are the ones we see below. Lots of rocks, and things to look at! It's cool going to any beach, really, but if I had my choice of a beach, it would be one that was easy to access, and had lots of great rocks like this one here!
This is for sure where the little man and I spend a lot of our fun time when we are at the beach. We occasionally will switch it up and play with other things, but it's some great fun to hit the waves, dig into the rocks and find some critters. We let most of them go of course, except if we find some good invasive species crabs. We feed those fellas to the birds! Gotta help the local ecology, and the species that is native, to push out the invasive ones!
It's kind of funny when we get looks from people when we feed the seagulls. Sometimes we get to talk to them afterwards, and tell them about the fact that these are highly invasive and destructive crabs for the local wildlife. Most of the time when they hear us explain that type of thing to them, they back off and are not as annoyed with seeing it. I think that's good, because it's also important to help the local stuff!
I think one of the other fun things about the tide pools and the rocks that we spend our time around is that they can be pretty awesome to look at, and dramatic! I love when the water is completely still, and looks like glass like this. It's not too often that you get that to happen with an ocean nearby! There was also no wind, so that was good.
The myriad of colors and interesting shapes, textures and shit all over the place in these tide pools is really remarkable. I think it's one of the reasons I've really grown to like playing in the tide pools. It's one of those subconscious things that you don't really notice.. but thinking back on what attracts you to them, it's stuff like this.
Flipping the photos, especially the last one, into black and white was really cool. I love getting the glass-still shots like this, because I for sure use one or two other ones that I have just like this, fairly regularly in my posts!

They might think you are one of those animal abuser, who do that kind of things for fun.
But yeah, with the recent development in shipping and travelling, some of the invasive species can also hitch hiking into a far away places, and then they become an invasive species, destyoing local wildlife.
Yeah I know some people are more virtue signaling than thinking logically about things. They like the idea of saving animals, but don't understand that an invasive species makes things far worse in many cases.
Sadly the invasive species are pretty frequent around here! We have an invasive plant that is destroying whole sections of forests it's very frustrating!

Great shots, what kind of editing did you do to them? Just converted them to grayscale or something else?
I play around with the desaturate feature in GIMP. There are some pretty cool choices! It changes the impact of the black and white depending on some variables that I don't fully understand. For example, the HSI Intensity one makes flowers look pretty awesome and dark, where the other ones will do something different.
It's fun to monkey around with it!
Very cool. I think I have GIMP installed, but I haven't messed with it too much. I just usually use Irfanview for the simple editing I do.
Now that I think of it, long stretches of white sandy beaches no longer look appealing compared to the beaches with myriads of rocks of different sizes I used to visit some years back. It's indeed kind of funny picking out the invasive crabs and feeding it to the birds, I'd probably be amused by it at first glance lol.
Hahaha yeah it's different tossing the invasive ones to the birds! They love it though, and they are going to eat anyway. Might as well help the good crabs! :D
Rocky beaches are way cooler for sure dude! I'm glad you get to enjoy them as well!
