Beachy Monochrome Monday

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to share a few photos from a recent beach that we went to!

Beachy Monochrome Monday

There are a lot of beaches around us, which is pretty nice and convenient. We've got lots of choices in terms of where we'd like to go! I guess the shoreline is just one giant beach, in all honesty. There are a lot of private properties and other things along the way though, so we don't get to go to every square inch. That's okay though, because we enjoy what we do get to explore!

We decided to visit a brand new beach the other day, one that we've never heard of necessarily but we do know the town that it was in. It was nice to go exploring, as it gives us a chance to feel like we are on vacation, even though we are just a drive away!

The beaches that we are visiting more frequently lately are ones that have a fair bit of rocks on them. The sandy beaches are nice for sure, but the little man is an active one. He doesn't like to sit down and build a castle. He wants to find crabs, play in the water, build something, search for sea shells, search for sea glass and other things. This means that the general beach that many people flock to, doesn't suit his desires very much. That's okay because it's our own unique brand of what we like to do.

The challenge with these beaches though is that most of them charge insane fees in order to park! We were flabbergasted at how expensive it was to try and park there, so we said fuck that and I made an illegal park so the wife and son could go down to the rocks and find some things for a little bit. I didn't get to go down there which was okay, but I did get to hop up on a rock for a nice view of the area, and it did seem enjoyable.

The shoreline is a lot of coves and things like this. I think that's cool and a lot of fun, especially because it makes for some pretty cool photos. I like seeing the beaches like this turned into black and white. It adds a bit of a noir feeling to them, even though we are living in 2024 it feels a lot older.

I would have liked to have my DSLR with us for some of these trips but sadly it's not easy to carry the thing around for the photos. We make due with the phone cameras, and they do a pretty good job overall. Each of these photos was taken with an iPhone, so they are decent quality!

Great photos, as always thank you for these 🙏 all I will say is you're absolutely right about the outrageous parking fees. One parking lot here costs nearly $15 (Canadian) for a 5-minute walk to see a waterfall 👎

Yeah that’s obnoxious lol I hate when they try to screw tourists. We have similar things like that here and it’s so dumb.

I knew there was a difference between these shots and the ones you're used to actually taking. I prefer the quiet type of beaches where there aren't a lot of people and reflective. Maybe when I have a son, I might begin to prefer the active ones.

Yeah my wife actually took those photos except the one of the harbor, I took that one :D

We prefer the places that are off the beaten path, and I think that's great. I think this type of mindset is going to be important for the little man so he grows up to be his own person instead of just following the herd, at least I would hope.

Having a kid is a LOT of work, BUT it's one of the best decisions someone can ever make if you put in the time and effort to raise them. Hopefully you have a kiddo one day!
