Ripples on the Humptulips: 5-Minute Freewrite Thursday
Yes! The freewriting prompt today offers the perfect opportunity to share a few photos I'm working on for a longer photography post.
I took a daytrip to the Humptulips River in Washington state in mid-August. It was my first time on the Humptulips, though I've been across it on the bus a few times.
I find when I first photograph a new area, I struggle to identify the best views. This trip to the Humptulips was no exception to that rule, so I'll definitely be planning another venture to get better pics, and to explore the river more fully -- for this trip I stayed in one location, about 100 yards from the first river access point I found.
The Humptulips is shallow. I waded out to the middle and the water only came as high as my thighs, and I'm a fairly short dude (5'5").
There were plenty of ripples formed by the water running over the rocks, and they form a large portion of this group of photographs.
I hope you enjoy these, and be sure to look for my longer post with more. :)
P.S. I can't resist adding a shot of the birdie that was flitting around that day, though it isn't related to ripples. I've identified this guy as a cedar waxwing.
Have a great day!
Beautiful pictures and great shot of the bird perched on the rock.
Thanks, the bird is probably the best wildlife shot I've taken. :)
Everything art inspires us to create and I believe that nature is the genesis of it all.
The ripples have left this poet virtually comforted... Those are some nice shots 🔆
I'm so glad you found comfort in these photos. It certainly is a peaceful, quiet stretch of river. :)
That was a very cooperative bird to stay put long enough for a great photo. I love the water pictures. Reminds me of wading in the creek when I was a kid. Was it cold?
It was a very warm day, hot for us, and the water was the perfect temperature. As shallow as it was, I think the sun was actually warming it as it flowed.
Dear @cliffagreen, we need your help!
The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.

Your support would be really appreciated.
Thank you!
