Walking among the lights of the historic center

There are only a few days left until Christmas, even in my city there is a festive air and lights now illuminate all the streets of the historic centre, which has also become a pedestrian area for the occasion, allowing people to walk in complete tranquility and enjoy this beautiful Christmas atmosphere .

Perhaps you have understood, I am very fond of this period because it reminds me a lot of my adolescence and even before that the first years of life, when family lunches and the festive air filled the houses. There wasn't much money but perhaps, precisely for this reason, I always spent an extraordinary time, pampered by everything and everything. Furthermore, in this period, Walt Disney cartoons were broadcast on TV, I have always adored them and spent the afternoons and evenings enjoying these beautiful cartoons.

In this period, when I was little, my father accompanied me around the streets of the historic center, here the boys created large bonfires, as per tradition, and people positioned themselves around it to admire the fascinating, albeit dangerous, spectacle of fire. What beautiful memories, the boys wandered around the streets of the city throughout the day looking for cardboard and wood, placed them in the center of the street and then set fire to them. A great light projected the shadows on the facades of the buildings!

Today, where there were bonfires, there are countless lights illuminating the facades. The shops are constantly visited by people looking for gifts. The cold could discourage some shy visitors. In the center of the square with the fountain the usual Christmas nativity scene was built, this year it consists of a dome of light inside which the nativity scene is distributed over a rounded landscape, made up of small houses, a stable, some inhabitants and the inevitable waterfall at the bottom of the city.

The nativity scene is a point of reference for Christmas in my city, in fact it marks the Christmas shopping street, it is the place where every year the city gives a crown of flowers to the statue of the Madonna, positioned on a stone pedestal over 10 meters above sea level. meters high, requiring the intervention of the firefighters and the long escalator.

On Christmas Eve the shops are open all day, Christmas music accompanies the frantic and last gifts, between a photo of the nativity scene and a good coffee from the nearby bar.

In the next few days these streets will be crowded in conjunction with the opening of the nativity scene itinerary, a small journey that will take visitors to local churches to admire the handcrafted nativity scenes. An event not to be missed!
