Sunday morning at Agriturismo San Giuseppe

Spring is not that far away, the sunny days are longer, the climate is milder, the conditions are ideal for spending a great Sunday at the Agriturismo San Giuseppe, an enchanting restaurant located in a large green field , surrounded by the Murgia forest.

The farm was born as a meeting place between farm animals and people who live far from this beautiful reality. Here, in fact, it is possible to meet horses, sheep, cows, rabbits, goats and chickens up close. It is not uncommon to observe some birds of prey flying above the company and the surrounding area, looking for some easy prey for lunch. Furthermore, the forest is home to many specimens of wild boars and some specimens of wolves. But it is difficult to observe them because these animals are afraid of humans, perhaps it is easier to meet them at night.

For those who love horses and want to learn to ride these splendid creatures, the San Giuseppe farmhouse also hosts a riding school with around ten specimens. Here we learn the basic rules for knowing animals and their attitude: although they are domesticated specimens, each horse has unique characteristics and it is good to know the creature that will take us for a walk. Large bales of hay are characteristic in these places, the animals need a large quantity of quality fodder, and this can also be seen in the shine of their manes and skin.

Seeing them running freely, however, is the greatest joy for those who really love them, and here there are large green areas where the creatures can run around without any danger. What I consider fundamental is the meeting between children and animals, here they learn to play with them but above all important relationships of knowledge and trust are established. Animals deserve our respect more than we deserve it from them.

I love farmhouses for this great opportunity offered to people and children in particular. In fact, it is the children who are most enthusiastic about this short Sunday trip.
