Yesterday evening we visited a glimpse of the historic center of the city of Giovinazzo, enchanting especially in the evening when the warm lights transform the narrow streets of the city into a magical place. In particular, there is a path close to the sea, a pier built on one that already existed in the past but unfortunately was lost due to the atmospheric agents and the saltiness of the sea itself.

It is accessed via a wooden staircase, being the historical center higher than sea level, in an area without traffic but full of many wonders. From this walkway you can enjoy a beautiful view of the coast and the sea, the lights are a glare and a reference above all for the fishing boats which in these hours are heading out to sea to drop their nets.

The historic center is a cacophony of white sounds: chatter of people indoors, pots and pans in motion, TVs tuning to their favorite channels. It reminds me so much of the city of a few decades ago, not at all enterprising but which lived its daily life with simplicity. My father always reminded me how in his day there were very few cars, we still went on horseback or bicycle and in the evening everyone was gathered at the table, sometimes in front of the only TV available, or rather we talked and told us about their day .

No smartphones, computers or other distractions. Good times I would think.

Ieri sera abbiamo visitato uno scorcio del centro storico della città di Giovinazzo, incantevole soprattutto la sera quando le luci calde trasformano pe stradine della città in un luogo magico. In particolare vi è un percorso a ridosso del mare, un pontile costruito su uno già esistente in passato ma purtroppo andato perduto a causa degli agenti atmosferici e della salsedine del mare stesso.

Si accede attraverso una scalinata sempre in legno, essendo il centeo storico più alto rispetto al livello del mare, in una zona priva di traffico ma pieno di tante meraviglie. Da questa passerella si gode di una bellissima visuale della costa e del mare, le luci sono un bagliore e un riferimento soprattutto per i pescherecci che proprio in queste ore so dirigono a largo per calare le reti.

Il centro storico è una cacofonia di suoni bianchi: chiacchiericcio delle persone in casa, pentole e tegami in movimento, le tv che si sintonizzano suo canali preferiti. Mi ricorda tanto la città di qualche decennio fa, per nulla intraprendente ma che viveva la sua quotidianità con semplicità. Mio padre mi ha sempre ricordato come ai suoi tempi le macchine erano pochissime, si andava ancora a cavallo o bicicletta e la sera tutti erano riuniti a tavola, a volte davanti all'unica TV disponibile, o meglio si dialogava e ci raccontava la propria giornata.

Niente smartphone, computer o altre distrazione. Bei tempi mi verrebbe da pensare.
