It doesn't stand out for having a deep lore per se, but rather for building its own identity through its style, game modes, and the extreme competitive atmosphere that characterizes the franchise.
La jugabilidad es el punto más fuerte del juego. Burnout Legends reúne contenido y modos inspirados en las primeras entregas de la saga, adaptados al formato portátil, y muchos de sus eventos recuerdan mucho a Burnout 3: Takedown. Entre sus modos están carreras normales, eliminator, face-off, time attack, burning lap, road rage, pursuit y crash, lo que le da mucha variedad para un juego de este tipo. La idea no es solo llegar primero, sino también conducir de forma agresiva, hacer takedowns, ganar puntos y sobrevivir al tráfico mientras el ritmo se vuelve más frenético.

Otro de sus atractivos es la cantidad de contenido desbloqueable. El juego incluye decenas de autos repartidos en varias clases, y la progresión se basa en completar eventos, ganar medallas y superar desafíos específicos. Esto hace que la campaña tenga buena duración y que siempre haya una meta nueva por alcanzar. Además, en la versión de PSP existen autos de colección y modos multijugador que amplían bastante la rejugabilidad.
En resumen, Burnout Legends funciona como una especie de recopilación portátil de lo mejor de Burnout hasta ese momento, con una jugabilidad adictiva, mucha velocidad y choques muy satisfactorios.
