"To A Different Perspective - Seeing Cats In a New Light, Watching Our ‘Kidi’ Grow Into Something Beautiful”

“Don’t knock it until you try It “, is something that became true to me lately in the most fulfilling way.
I’m not a fan of having cats. I was stereotypical about them. Most cats are not close to their owners - they aren’t that affectionate. I thought they will only chase birds, snakes, lizards, and other preys. I remember my grandmother’s cat who would never like to be cuddled. I tried several approaches, but it never gave me a chance. Then we had a ginger cat. He would play with us, letting us rub his belly and will rub his head on out feet from time to time. I couldn’t contain my sadness when it never returned home one day. We only had dogs for a long time. Until a female kitten, approached my brother’s window. I told him not to let it him, but he shrugged my warnings off and continued to feed her. After some time, I was surprised that he let it sleep in his room. I was really against the idea. She grew and became so affectionate to him but cranky to all of us. He named her ‘Kidi’.

She gave birth to many kittens overtime. We gave some to our neighbors but kept a few of them. I begin to understand that cats have their own unique personalities. One would be so chatty when meals are served late, another would never prefer cuddles, some would follow you around, while others wouldn’t care to do so. They’re like humans showing their emotions in many different ways if we let them.

She’s now five years old, and I saw her change. As time unfolds, it has a way of preparing us for what is to come. I witnessed her deliver her litter twice. I admire her as a mother cat. She takes care of her kittens well and would still groom some of them even if they’re grown. When her little ones eat her meals, she wouldn’t bother. It was an inexplicable awe, and I massaged her tummy to help her during those times. She started to shift from that cranky personality to that gentle loving cat.

I learned my lessons well. Give something a chance.

@chrisj25 Just like humans, cats do have their unique temperaments and behavior and I think you never gone wrong in giving Kidi a chance to show her soft and clingy side. She just needed some time to adjust and felt comfortable with your presence before she trusted and accepted you. Remember, when she was new in your house, you didn't like her too and your brother adopted her secretly, that's why she got close to him before any other people in your house. They could actually sense people who like or dislike them and they don't trust easily. They are smart pets.

I used to have cats before. I had white with black spots, black with stripes, pure white, and black with brown dots and light black stripes. Although I don't have cats anymore today, I still have this special affection for cats, they just look so cute and sweet. 💞
