"With you, kitty everything it's just wonderful": A dusk with Michito

So what can I tell you? Yesterday I had one of the most beautiful I have seen this year. I am not exaggerating a bit. The temperature was pleasant, my beautiful and sweet kitty Michito was by my side, and together, without planning it, we were there, staring at that captivating horizon we all see. On the last day of autumn, and as the last rays of sunshine of a day were dying, my dear fatty and I shared that beauty that is difficult to adequately describe.

I would like to tell you that my cat is the most fantastic animal on the face of the earth or that he does tricks that seem to come out of an unexplainable magic act, but the truth is that I would be lying a lot.... He doesn't need to do anything extravagant. I, as his mother, am happy to see him happy, relaxed and beautiful by my side. I love that his personality is ideal for this kind of sunset. Non-aggressive, extremely affectionate and docile to the touch and with a little ‘boy’ look, Michito is the closest thing I know to a TV heartthrob with some poetry.

Every person who has pets, and especially cats, I know, encourages that their pets are the most precious and wonderful animals. I have no reason to contradict those assertions, but my boy is all that is right in that life. Sometimes, the best closure to a tremendously demanding week in every way lies precisely in the way simplicity imitates art. I'm not trying to take credit for the beauty of the sunset or the colours in the case with my kitty in the photographs, but you will agree with me that he looks fantastic in them.

Maybe the reason for this post lies there. To share with him those brief minutes of the day. As you can guess, there was no need to talk or plan anything. It was just him, me and these beautiful memories. According to my mother, all the kittens (I have 2 plus the ‘Thieving Kitten’, who is a stray but I also take care of her and feed her) had already had lunch (yes, they also eat three times a day). Normally Michito at that time is somewhere with a delicious shade, lying down, enjoying a nice nap. But he likes to be by my side. He was my accomplice in this story, in the photos but also in capturing the memory.

Any human being who has a cat as a pet knows how challenging it can be to catch them in their more ‘natural’, more ‘authentic’ state. They are cunning and are always won over by curiosity or boredom. The brief minutes of an autumn evening light show, the last evening (today December 21st, the beginning of winter) were witness to the fact that every living being at some level is capable of enjoying pleasure and art. I am not assuring that spending the evening with Michito is equal to an evening with Monet or Picasso, no. But neither do I doubt that he is the same. But neither do I doubt that he, just another kitten, really enjoyed that moment. For him, I don't think it was the admiration and fascination of the shades of orange and yellow of the sunsets, but the knowledge that I was loved, wanted and protected by his mummy. My dear beautiful Michito.
