Meet the "thieving kitty": A new pet that has moved me deeply [ENG/ESP]

English Version

She has no name. Quite simply, my daughter and I have named her "The Thieving Kitten" Why? Well, mainly, because one day I saw that the kitchen was all messed up..... I mean, I had gone to bed to sleep, and everything was in perfect order. When I woke up, I noticed that my cats' food was gone. The kitchen trash was a total mess. Food scraps, and I noticed strange smells.... You know, I mean those smells that certain cats leave behind to "mark their territory". I knew right away, we had a new intruder. The days went on, and the same disasters were repeated; until one day I saw her.... That's where our story began, and how she came to move me....

In this community I have already written that I am a woman with many animals. Cats (male), baby turtles (two), chickens and 3 fish.... Added to all this, our beloved protagonist comes into my life. At first, she did it in a surreptitious way; secretly. Then, when I became aware of her presence in my house, I started to incite her not to make a mess in my house; especially when I was not at home, which is most of the day... So, I instructed my little girl to feed her. To hide, and to leave her cat in a specific place.

Little by little, she would send me photos on WhatsApp showing the "Thieving Kitten" eating. When I got home, my daughter would tell me that she saw the kitten several times, but she would not go near her. Day after day we left her more things for her comfort. Water, a little bed made of comfortable quilts; my daughter even made her a little cardboard box decorated with drawings and ornaments made with her colors.... Ha, children can become really obsessive when they are trying to reach a goal; besides, as a mother I notice that, particularly, my little girl has a special love for cats.

We have not formally adopted her. The treatment with her is ambiguous. One day she lets herself be petted, another day she is totally elusive with us. The truth is that she is totally sweet. She has a beautiful character. Gentle, a bit naughty but not violent at all. I would love to take care of her, although I understand that it is a great responsibility. For now, I don't think I can take it on, but one thing I do know I will continue to do is to take care of her. My daughter, she is my assistant and we are as a team taking care of our pets. In the pictures you see, I had to step back a little bit to get the shots....

I wanted to capture her eyes, and especially her gaze. Which is something that really struck a strong chord with me. For some reason, I suspect, she has suffered a lot.... I feel a powerful connection with her. I am inclined to care for her and protect her. When she first came into our home, she was incredibly thin and emaciated; over time she has improved and regained strength, muscle and looks better and better. I don't want to not clarify the origin of her name, but I also think it has become clear after this brief history.... She came into my home, and "stole" the meals of my pets.... Who would have thought, right? That (she, with time) would end up "stealing" our affection, respect and love.

Me inclino a cuidarla y protegerla.

All photographs in this post, have been taken by me.

All cats are curious thieves I guess😅 You leave a cat alone and they mess up everything. But they are cute no doubt.

I totally agree... But in this case, she's just adorable. It could go wrong in someone else's hands, but I like to think she's happy and healthy. Thanks for stopping by.

It's truly heartwarming to see the effort you put ensuring her comfort without even formally adopting her.
