Soviet Culture House
The city of Mednogorsk, Orenburg region. The city is small, but there were many industrial metallurgical enterprises here. Some are still operating, while others are abandoned and destroyed. Since all the industry, and a large part of the city, was built during the Soviet era, there is a lot of Stalinist architecture here. And the most striking example is the huge building of the House of Culture. The building has been abandoned since the mid-90s, but despite the destruction, it has retained its former grandeur. There was a cinema hall, a huge library and much more in the building. But it is very expensive to maintain such a building, and the building was abandoned. Now you can still find some stucco from the Soviet period here. Perhaps, the building will be torn down soon. In the meantime, local youth and other antisocial elements gather here.

It's heartbreaking to see so many abandoned and decayed buildings. I understand that these most likely lost their purpose and would need a lot of care, restoration, but to leave them like that, it's not a nice thing.
However, as a photographer, these are always a good occasion to get some cool shorts. You don't see such beauties in cities though.
I had one set of houses not far from where I live, which sat in a similar condition for a few years as there was an ongoing court case, but after the verdict, it got demolished and there's a new building in place now.
Recently, we have begun to deal more actively with such structures. Especially if they are located within large cities. Well, and accordingly, the further from large cities, the more such objects. True, in good preservation - it is unrealistic to find
Great Pictures! You can still hear the echoes of the soviet era through these images... Keep it up 👍
