Interesting nature on a recent scout run

Anytime someone puts on a trail, they have to go out to the site the week or weeks before the actual date in order to "lay the trail." This can be time consuming and is definitely something to be appreciated. For the average HHH member we just turn up and enjoy the run. For the people who plan the run, it involves a great deal of wandering around and finding something new to introduce the members to. Nobody likes doing trails that are all exactly the same as they have been in the past.

Some Hares go above and beyond and plan the trails with great care and sometimes they actually come across some nature that we who are running the trails probably don't even notice when we are doing them.

I have no idea what this is (other that it obviously being a mushroom) but there is something about it that I find very beautiful. This was discovered in a wet area on our last trail during the scout. Don't eat it!

Again, no idea what this is aside from it being a flower. The cool thing about this is that it is a wildflower and is nowhere near any sort of cultivated land. While this might be very common at a plant shop or nursery, finding something like this in the jungle of Thailand is actually quite rare.

Every now and then someone will capture a scene that reminds me why it is that I continue to live in this part of the world. The contrast of the mountains, the clouds, and the water feature - even if it is man made - which is likely - is something that I haven't really seen anywhere else I have lived in my life. This isn't even a national park but is just something that we see commonly all over Chiang Mai.

I don't know what the hell this is or how it happened. I presume this is some sort of backfill location where the earth was taken out and moved elsewhere and it has been left alone for many years and this resulted in the erosion that makes the edges almost seem sharp. One thing is for sure: don't fall in there or we might not be able to get you out!

Last but certainly not least are these little Buddhist relics that are scattered all over the countryside. When we are on these trails, sometimes miles away from anyone's house or a temple, it is quite common to come across some sort of religious shrine that someone considers important. Every now and then someone will trek out here to refill the offerings and even though I don't know the purpose, I can appreciate this level of dedication to something like Buddhism.

All this and more can be something that you see on a regular basis if you come and join us in Chiang Mai. There are lots of other reasons to want to travel here as well but if you do make it to the area please look us up while you are here. We still do at least 3 runs weekly and we would love to have you!

Definitely having dedicated run planners is a bonus as they show they have gone above and beyond to find somehting interesting and different. This shows they care and you guys noticing shows it is appreciated.

we couldn't do it without our Hares. It really does take a lot of work but our dedicated group has plenty of volunteers.
