Hace par de años, cuando pasaba el curso de fotografía de la Escuela de Fotografía Creativa de La Habana, tenía la tarea de hacer un trabajo sobre una de las figuras de la retórica. En ese momento este personaje era muy popular porque estaba saliendo la primera temporada de la serie de Netflix, así que decidí elegir la figura de la alegoría a Merlina. Y hoy vengo a contarles un poco de ella y de esta fotografía.

Decidí hacer a Merlina Addams porque ella no es más que un recordatorio de que ser diferente no es algo malo. Es un personaje que celebra la personalidad individual y auténtica, incluso si eso significa bailar al ritmo de una melodía oscura y fúnebre. Su popularidad radica en su capacidad para ser al mismo tiempo una figura de humor negro y un símbolo de empoderamiento para quienes se sienten fuera de lugar, y mi modelo es toda una Merlina en la sociedad.

A couple of years ago, when I was passing the photography course at the School of Creative Photography in Havana, I had the assignment to do a paper on one of the figures of rhetoric. At that time this character was very popular because the first season of the Netflix series was coming out, so I decided to choose the figure of Merlina allegory. And today I come to tell you a little about her and this photograph.

I decided to do Merlina Addams because she is nothing more than a reminder that being different is not a bad thing. She is a character that celebrates individual and authentic personality, even if that means dancing to a dark and funereal tune.
