The Beatrix Potter Garden - Birnam - Scotland

In the beautiful Scottish village of Birnam, we find this little garden inspired by the works of Beatrix Potter.

The Potter family spent many summers in this area of the Scottish countryside.It is thought that this area of the country helped inspire Beatrix to write her childrens stories.

In the centre of the garden under this pavilion we find a lot of information about the authors life and time spent in Birnam and the surrounding area.

The garden is a very tranquil and peaceful place to take a seat and unwind for a while.

Autumn is probably the best time to visit, this maple has a wonderful deep red color on display for us during this visit.


Statues of Peter Rabbit and his friends can be found around the garden.


I especially like this Peter Rabbit-themed weather vein.

This is a collection of shots taken a few weeks ago while I was out with my father wandering the villages of Dunkeld and Birnam in Perthshire, Scotland.

In the center of the village in the small but very picturesque village of Birnam, there is a garden dedicated to the memory and literary works of Beatrix Potter, the author who is most famous for writing the Peter Rabbit children's stories.

Beatrix Potter is most often associated with the Lake District in England but many of her childhood summers were spent in Scotland.
The family had a long history of visiting Dunkeld & Birnam and the surrounding area, and it is during these childhood trips Beatrix was inspired to write her stories.

The shots above were taken in late October when the plants and trees in the garden had some beautiful Autumnal colors on display.
