This is what I think about when I take my photos

What was I doing so far from the things I love all that time? How could I live peacefully with so much desire to create and share? How did I channel that energy?

Today, while playing with my camera, these questions arose. Imagine, I spent eight years studying in the healthcare sector, only to have nothing to do with it, and no desire to do so in the future.

So, I sit calmly and somewhat curious, looking at my old laptop, until, between photos and videos, the answer is revealed all at once. Of course, I was always dancing, inventing, or, on the other hand, different from the group, even in the hospital hallway. I'm sure I wouldn't have wasted so much time if I had asked my friends first. Outsiders always see you better, right? There's even a very funny video, which I'm not at all proud of, that made it all too obvious, although I understand I needed that to be able to function in that environment so contrary to my nature.

So, what I take away from all this is that the only permanent, sustainable, and worthwhile thing to do is the things you love. What you're good at, what you truly enjoy, where your mind wanders when you're bored, that hobby you don't value much, or that you perhaps don't think will reap great rewards. If you think that, dear friend, let me tell you something: you're wrong. That's the way it is.

It's not where your parents, with their best intentions, told you, nor society and its archaic prejudices that no longer work, nor even the job that offers the most financial opportunities. It's a big mistake to do something just for the financial side. As I'm telling you, you can try, but you'll never be completely happy, and that, little by little, will open up a great void, a feeling that something is missing, and you'll try to fill it with external things, which will never be enough.

However, when you decide to put all your effort into doing the things that make your eyes sparkle just by talking about them, or imagining them, everything changes. I'm not saying it's a bed of roses, but it will be worth every thorn, because every stumble, or every victory, will be a learning experience that will show you that you can do it. Because when you do something from the heart, the flowers are already there; you just need to take a little care of the plant to enjoy a beautiful garden. Your garden.

¿Qué hacía tan lejos de las cosas que me gustan todo ese tiempo? ¿Cómo podía vivir tranquila con tantas ganas de crear y compartir? ¿De qué forma canalizaba esa energía?

Hoy, mientras jugaba con mi cámara, surgieron estas interrogantes. Imagina, pasé 8 años estudiando en sector de la salud para ahora no tener nada que ver con eso, y tampoco deseos de hacerlo en el futuro.

Entonces, me siento tranquila y un tanto curiosa, en la laptop antigua, hasta que entre fotos y videos la respuesta se revela de una vez. Claro, siempre estaba bailando, inventando, o, por otro lado, diferente al grupo, incluso en el pasillo del hospital. Estoy segura de que no hubiera perdido tanto tiempo si le hubiera preguntado antes a mis amigos. Los de afuera siempre te ven mejor, verdad. Incluso existe un video muy gracioso del cual no estoy nada orgullosa, que lo hizo demasiado evidente, aunque entiendo que necesitaba eso para poder funcionar ante aquel ambiente tan contrario a mi naturaleza.

Entonces, lo que me llevo de todo esto es que lo único permanente, sostenible en el tiempo y a lo que vale la pena dedicarle todo tu empeño, es a las cosas que te gustan. Lo que se te da bien, lo que realmente disfrutas, a dónde se va tu mente cuando estás aburrido, ese hobby que no valoras mucho, o con el que tal vez no piensas que puedas recibir grandes recompensas. Si piensas eso, querido amigo, déjame decirte algo, te equivocas, por ahí es.

No es por donde te dijeron tus padres con sus mejores intenciones, ni la sociedad y sus prejuicios arcaicos que ya no funcionan, ni tampoco el trabajo que más posibilidades económicas brinde. Es un gran error hacer algo solo por la parte económica. Ya te digo, puedes intentarlo, pero nunca serás totalmente feliz y eso, poco a poco, abrirá un gran vacío, una sensación de que algo falta, e intentarás llenarlo con cosas externas, las cuales nunca serán suficientes.

Sin embargo, cuando decides poner todo tu empeño en hacer las cosas por las que brillan tus ojos con solo hablar de ellas, o imaginarlas, todo cambia. No digo que sea un camino de rosas, pero valdrá la pena cada espina, porque cada tropezón, o cada victoria, será un aprendizaje que te va a demostrar que sí puedes. Porque cuando se hace algo desde el corazón, las flores ya están ahí, solo falta cuidar un poco la planta para disfrutar de un hermoso jardín. Tu jardín.
