Caburní waterfall 🏃‍♀️ [En-Es]

Hello Hive's beautiful family 🥰.

This weekend I made an excursion to the Topes de Collantes Natural Park, located in La Sierra del Escambray, 800 meters above sea level.

This dream place owes its first name, (Topes) to being on top of the mountains, and (Collantes) because that was the surname of the first wealthy family that lived there.

Topes, is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in my life, so much so that I am already planning to go there again, but this time with much more time.

The microclimate of the mountains causes a vegetation that seems from another planet, you can see the parrots free in the trees chattering among them, and eating seeds. The Tocororos with their beautiful colors, and their particular song, force us to be silent to admire their beauty among the branches.

One of the park's attractions are the impressive waterfalls. "El Salto del Caburní", resonated so much in my head that I could not wait to know it and I ventured without the company of a guide at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, something that should not be done, because it is dangerous the road at night.

The slopes of the Caburni Trail have an incline of 45 degrees, it is one of the most difficult trails, and in rainy weather it becomes slippery, but luckily that day we had wonderful weather.

Halfway along the road we stumbled upon these huge stones, called elephant trunks, because if you look at them well, they really look like elephant trunks hanging from above.

I have to say that the road was not at all easy to walk, since the soil was almost wet due to the humidity and we had to walk very carefully so as not to slip, but it was certainly worth it.

The sound of rushing water grew louder as we got closer. We came across two trails going in different directions and afraid of getting lost we decided to take the one on the left which turned out to be the Salto del Caburní waterfall.

I can not explain in words how impressive it is to see and hear that flow of water making its way through the rocks. Spectacular, nature seems to me tremendously wonderful.

We didn't want to miss the mystery behind the second trail, the one on the right, and after taking some pictures we hurried to see what was there since we were on our own, without a guide to ask, and we had to find out for ourselves.

This crystalline natural pool was our surprise, a continuation of the Caburní waterfall itself and a favorite place to enjoy the water, very cold by the way 😅

On the way back I enjoyed it a bit more, as we were no longer in such a hurry, and I was able to admire the plants that stick to the trees and feed on the moisture, called Epiphytes.

We arrived at the village almost at night, with the satisfaction of having known a little more than planned and arrive in time for lunch, very important, to replenish energy after the long journey.

Hola familia linda de Hive 🥰

Este fin de semana realicé una excursión hacia el Parque Natural Topes de Collantes, ubicado en La Sierra del Escambray, a 800 metros sobre el nivel del mar.

Este lugar de ensueño debe su primer nombre, (Topes) al estar en la cima de las montañas, y (Collantes) porque así era el apellido de la primera familia adinerada que vivió allí.

Topes, es unos de los lugares más hermosos que he visitado en mi vida, tanto que ya estoy programando volver a ir, pero esta vez con mucho más tiempo.

El microclima de las montañas provoca una vegetación que parece de otro planeta, se pueden ver las cotorras libres en los árboles parloteando entre ellas, y comiendo semillas. Los Tocororos con sus lindos colores, y su particular canto, obligan a hacer silencio para admirar su belleza entre las ramas.

Uno de los atractivos del parque son las impresionantes cascadas. "El Salto del Caburní", resonaba tanto en mi cabeza que no pude esperar para conocerlo y me aventuré sin la compañía de un guía a las 4 de la tarde, cosa que no se debe hacer, porque es peligroso el camino de noche.

Las pendientes del Sendero del Caburni tienen una inclinación de 45 grados, es uno de los caminos más difíciles, y en tiempo de lluvia se vuelve resbaladizo, pero por suerte ese día contábamos con un clima maravilloso.

A mitad del camino nos tropezamos con estas inmensas piedras, llamadas trompas de elefante, porque si las miras bien, en verdad parecen trompas de elefantes colgando desde arriba.

Tengo que decir que el camino no fue nada fácil de transitar, ya casi llegando estaba mojada la tierra debido a la humedad y debíamos caminar con sumo cuidado para no resbalar, pero sin duda valió la pena.

El sonido del agua cayendo se hacía más fuerte a medida que nos acercábamos. Nos encontramos con dos senderos que iban en rumbos diferentes y con miedo de perdernos decidimos irnos por el de la izquierda que resultó ser la cascada Salto del Caburní.

No puedo explicar con palabras lo imponente que es ver, y oír ese caudal de agua abriéndose paso entre las rocas. Espectacular, la naturaleza me parece tremendamente maravillosa.

No queríamos perdernos el misterio detrás del segundo sendero, el de la derecha, y luego de tomar algunas fotos nos apresuramos para ver qué había ya que andábamos solos, sin un guía al cual preguntarle, y debíamos averiguarlo por nosotros mismos.

Esta cristalina piscina natural fue nuestra sorpresa, continuación del propio salto del Caburní y lugar preferido para disfrutar del agua, muy fría por cierto 😅

El camino de regreso lo disfruté un poco más, pues ya no teníamos tanta prisa, y pude admirar las plantas que se adhieren a los árboles y se alimentan de la humedad, llamadas Epífitas.

Llegamos a la villa casi de noche, con la satisfacción de haber conocido un poco más de lo planeado y llegar a tiempo para la comida, muy importante, a reponer energías luego del largo recorrido.
