COMMUNITY RULES UPDATE for PHOTOGRAPHY LOVERS

~ PLEASE READ ~

Before starting this post, if you want to skip to the IMPORTANT RULES UPDATE scroll down to the section with that same title in red!

It's Not That Far Of A Scroll

My Appreciation

First, I want to thank everyone that shares their photographic content here in our amazing community! We wouldn't have such an awesome PHOTOGRAPHY LOVERS COMMUNITY on HIVE without the participation of you all. I also want to thank those that take the time to comment, upvote, and engage within the community, even if you don't post your photos here.

Not every Photography Lover is a photographer and we value that. Not every photographer we have here posting is professional and we also value and respect that! We are all here to celebrate our love and passion for photography together one way or another here ON HIVE.

Thanks for your amazing graphics @doze

Many here are professionals with top of the line equipment, some have inexpensive point and shoot digital cameras, while others are hobbyists and amateurs using their phone cameras. Some are only here to appreciate the talent and beauty, but all subscribers and visitors are truly valued and welcome here in the Photography Lovers Community!

~ Community Growth & Management ~

The Photography Lovers Community was created and established by @derangedvisions and all due respect and credit go to him for taking the initiative. As the community grew and began to have more content to review and users to curate and manage, i was honored to be invited to become a curator and mod here. We have always been a small, diligent team to ensure our community was the best of the best!

After going over some data and analytics, it appears we have succeeded!

WINNING

The official Community Account was created in November 2019 and our Contest and Curation Badge Account was created in September 2020. I'm not sure how big or active the community was at this time, but #photography has been one of the most prolific content tags and topics dating back to Steem, even before communities existed.

We were growing enough that we decided to start showcasing our talented photographers in the Community Curation Reports back in October 2020. We also decided to start giving 5% beneficiary payout for the selected thumbnails of our Community Curation Reports. Our community curation efforts have also been boosted by OCD Manual Curation Delegation Rewards Service as part of the OCD Community Incubation Program.

OCD supports a numerous amount of communities, countless users, and projects that always add value to the Hive Ecosystem. Too many projects and positive initiatives to mention here. Check out their links to see what i mean if you aren't already aware! I am proud to work with OCD as a curator and community manager, and this community has been truly blessed by the OCD Incubation program.

Thank You OCD

dividers-04.png

As of the latest OCD Communities Incubation Program - Update #106 (and on average as far back in monthly reports as i could go) the Photography Lovers Community has been ranked number 1 in subscriber count/growth and community interactions.

I don't think it will always be the case, but from what i can see on Hive.Blog Communities Photography Lovers is the third-largest community on Hive by number of subscribers and ranked 5th (i'm not sure what rank is based on) overall. I also looked, and it seems we have about 76 Photography Communities on Hive currently.

And at the time of writing this post, we have 16,902 community subscribers 700 active users and $3,976 pending rewards from 3,427 interactions and posts! That's quite an incredible performance analysis!

~ Curation ~

Curation is one of the best perks of the job... but it's truly a labor of love!

For quite some time now, due to life circumstances and other reasons, i have been curating and managing the Photography Lovers Community predominantly on my own. I consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to be in this position and am in no way complaining about my duties, but rather explaining what goes on behind the scenes to make this all run smoothly.

I do my best to sift through almost every single post in our community multiple times a day. Based on our numbers, you can already guess that can be quite a process. Photography Lovers is not the only top 10 community that i curate and manage, predominantly by myself, either... but that doesn't lessen my commitment to this community.

Managing and curating consists of many tasks. Checking for plagiarism and non-original content is one of the main time-consuming duties, especially when it comes to multiple languages to examine. Checking the text and images to determine if they are original content becomes more challenging every day with the advancement of technology.

However, The Photography Lovers Community is committed to maintaining a level of excellence and quality on Hive when it comes to our community standards. I will keep some of the OCD curation requirements undisclosed as not to have people find ways to take advantage of our methods.

We have the requirements for getting curated with larger votes in every community curation HotShots post here in Photography Lovers. Our community description and rules generally describes what essentially qualifies for curation. But, for your convenience, i will add the list again here.

  • ALL PHOTOGRAPHY MUST BE YOUR OWN ORIGINAL CONTENT
  • IF YOU ARE NOT THE PHOTOGRAPHER YOU MUST BE THE MODEL
  • NO STOCK IMAGES UNLESS YOU ARE THE CONTENT CREATOR
  • NO PLAGIARISM WILL BE TOLERATED
  • ALL TEXT MUST ALSO BE YOUR OWN ORIGINAL CONTENT
    or otherwise sourced and cited!
  • ALL NON-PHOTOGRAPHY POSTS WILL BE MUTED
  • SHARE 2 or MORE IMAGES IN YOUR POST
  • YOUR POST MUST HAVE AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION INCLUDED
  • MAKE SURE TO ANSWER YOUR COMMENTS & ENGAGE YOUR FOLLOWERS
  • GIVE IT YOUR BEST SHOT!

We will not be curating single-image posts, especially with little to no description. This community is focused on high-quality content which includes what surrounds the images you share here.

We do not curate cross-posts

We love to curate and reward accounts posting properly into this community, so long as they are abiding by the rules and guidelines. Remember, we do not curate single image posts, and though our community is photo-oriented, we do require that any text used in your posts be original content or otherwise sourced and cited properly.

~ IMPORTANT RULES UPDATE ~

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!
NEW RULE

The Photography Lovers Community Will No Longer Support Users Posting Content on STEEMIT AND/OR BLURT

I know that we have many excellent photographers that migrated to Hive from Steem. I also know we have many photographers that still post and are active on Steem. We also have users here that are active on Blurt.

Personally, i have not held back showcasing many photographers in our community, here on Hive, just because the user is also active on Steem or Blurt. Many people doubled their money if they were around before the Hive hardfork. I never blamed anyone for keeping it rolling.

However, those folks never get curated for rewards here on Hive. That is, unless i make a mistake..... and believe me, i make plenty. After being chided for this mistake on more than one occasion, i have decided to make my life much easier and eliminate the problem from the root cause. I will continue to feature valid posts from those active users (for now) in the community curation posts... but they will not be curated for votes. Let me explain a little.

I promise i'm trying to be brief!!!

The STEEM saga wasn't just a hostile, competitive takeover. HIVE was created specifically and directly due to THEFT. Many may be unaware of the story, but I can not support any user here in this community that is active and posting on STEEM any longer.

I'm not insinuating that anyone here was complicit but i am saying that it is a conflict of interest to Hive, in my personal opinion, and therefore unethical to support users here, on HIVE from HIVE rewards, to users active on BLURT and STEEM.

Blurt does not have a downvote feature and therefore manipulates the reward pool by removing such options. So, users active on Blurt will no longer be supported in this community either.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Since it takes time to Power Down and liquidate a STEEM and/or BLURT account, there will be a period of time affording all users sufficient amnesty to remove themselves from Blurt and STEEM.

For obvious reasons, i will not disclose how much time that amnesty period will be... but i assure you it will be sufficient time to make arrangements and disengage over there on all accords.

It is always with a heavy heart, except with scammers and thieves, that i have to mute posts or users. My hope is that most will cash out over there and roll their Steem/Blurt Stake into HIVE. But, what they do with their rewards over there is totally up to them.

I hate to have to make people pick a side, but I chose mine a long time ago. Unfortunately, for some, if they want to continue to participate in the Photography Lovers Community they will have to choose to be exclusive to HIVE as a user.

As i pointed out above, there are 75 other Photography Communities on Hive that you can still post in. I don't know their rules or policies... so make sure and check out their community descriptions and rules to make sure your posts fit into their guidelines.

I can only personally vouch for a handful of them as being of a HIVE standard of quality when it comes to community management and content. So, choose wisely if you want to stick with Steem and Blurt.

AFTER THE AMNESTY PERIOD IS OVER
ALL 'ACTIVE' STEEM & BLURT users
WILL BE MUTED FROM
THE PHOTOGRAPHY LOVERS COMMUNITY!

~ Artificial Intelligence & Photography ~

The last Update to address is the emergence of Artificial Intelligence and it's influence in generative art as it relates to photography and more specifically this community.

  • -
PHOTOGRAPHY IS ART & ART IS SUBJECTIVE

We have always had an open policy about this community being centered around photography which is an artform itself. So, we have been flexible with how photography is used and presented artistically in practice and presentation within our users' posts.

For example, photo's of art for the sake of sharing the art in the photo is probablly better fit in an art community, especially if it's to promote your art.

In contrast, a post with photos of art where the photos themselves add an extra dimension to the art or becomes an artwork in and of itself would be fully acceptable here. I have even made a few posts myself using my art to make creative macro photographs! However, it can still be very subjective and difficult at times as a curator to decide.

  • -
Not Safe For Work or NSFW CONTENT IN ART IS SUBJECTIVE

The same can be said for NSFW content. While we do allow NSFW content in this community, we are VERY diligent that all NSFW content is photographically relevant, classy, and artistic in it's quality.

Anything pornographic or too explicit will result in an automatic mute. When to use the NSFW tag to self-censor a post from those with the 'view NSFW' settings turned off can be controversial and confusing to figure out for many. Making a mistake in this area could get some negative attention or downvotes.

Naughty Naughty

So, it can be a difficult decision to make for a content creator of that nature at times.

The line between what makes an image art with value or just something vulgar can vary from individual to individual and culture to culture. Sometimes art is intended to be vulgar to express the value of what statement is being made through the art. So, this is another layer of decision making and scrutiny we go through to keep the quality up to our community standards and expectations as well as those of HIVE as an ecosystem.

  • -
THOSE WERE TWO EXAMPLES FOR CONTEXT

Those could both have been a series of posts in and of themselves... but let me finish this post up and get to the last points. I have been curating and keeping up with (as best i can) A.I. art and it's advancements for the last couple of years. I won't go into details here, but suffice it to say that multiple technologies can generate photo-realistic images virtually indistiguishible from actual digital photography.

This of course will make curators' work much more difficult. ChatGPT is also now entering the realm of generating text using AI in a similar fashion to the art field. This technology, while new and extremely controversial, is here to stay and will only grow and develop more over a short period of time.

In order to embrace the coming wave of technology as a tool, we are willing to comprimise here in the community to an extent. AI programs can be used to edit photographs now. I predict this will automate a lot of what makes Photoshop, Lightroom and other such photo editing software not so user friendly for those unfamiliar with all of their options.

The Future Is NOW

  • -
AI ART IN PHOTOGRAPHY WILL BECOME SUBJECTIVE

For now, we will accept posts that have Original Photographic Content manipulated with AI programs. The posts must include the original unaltered (by AI) photograph and then the alterations or edits. Your post should still be mostly focused on photography in general but this is an amazing opportunity for creativity. We won't accept posts that depend on AI too much for your content creation.

Since this is a whole new spectrum of options and it's all subjective it will be our community leaders and curators (mostly my) discretion which Photography AI posts are fit for this community. If they are unfit for here they may qualify in the other AI ART Communities.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ONLY POSTS
WILL BE MUTED

  • YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY POSTS WITH ANY AI MUST HAVE ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Terminated

ANY AND ALL USE OF AI
IN YOUR IMAGES OR TEXTS MUST BE DISCLOSED
WITHIN THE CONTENT OF YOUR POST

  • THIS IS THE SAME FOR CITING AND SOURCING YOUR UNORGINAL TEXTS AND IMAGES TO AVOID PLAGIARISM / DISCLOSING YOUR USE OF AI FOR IMAGES OR TEXT IS BEING TRANSPARENT AND ETHICAL

Bibliography Is Not Dead

NOT DISCLOSING THE USE OF AI
WILL GET YOU MUTED IN
THE PHOTOGRAPHY LOVERS COMMUNITY

Final Thoughts

As this post was started, i would like to finish it by thanking everyone. I want to thank each and every one of you that has been a part of this amazing experience and in this community in particular.

To EVERYONE

I want to extend my gratitude to all the Lovers of Photography that share so much of their passion and craft as well as their talents and captured beauty. We are all fortunate to have a place like this to group together and support one another.

Special thanks to Wes, Andy, Acid, and the OCD team that does all the stuff above my head. Thanks to all the other folks that do similar things like me, and to all the users that we serve to keep this experience one that is fair and enjoybale for us all.

I didn't intend this post to have any negative vibes or intentions. If there are any concerns to address or questions to ask, please feel free to tag me and to ask in the comments. For those that don't want to discuss the Steem stuff in public on chain here, can feel free to message me on Discord.

Thank You Photography Lovers Community

Special Thanks To YOU ALL

Sounds like a good move to me. I know that some of the other curation groups are moving this way too. It's a long time coming. There was a time when people were still moving stuff over and I myself was still interacting with both chains, but we are well past a year now and commitment should mean something.

It's tough enough keeping up with what's going on here... let alone having to track and scout out what's going on over there too on multiple fronts, as a curator. So, for me, it's really an easy choice and i totally agree about commitment and loyalty for us old enough to have some! Always remember the 'Dolphin School'... Lest we forget! 🤣

Oh yeah, those were the days. I wonder what ever happened to the one guy that was running that. I don't even remember his name now.

After a hiatus on Steemit, i came back to the Hive split. It took a while to get the story but after i got migrated over i looked up that dude. I forgot his name now but he had multiple accounts, mostly his inactive wife, and he was just using that Dolphin School to try and get a circle jerk pyramid following. He ended up doing a round or two and cashing out on Steemit. Then came back when it pumped and posted a couple of times but then liquidated both of their accounts. That was all before Hive though, if memory serves me well. I had to scroll really far to find all the info for that shit. hahahaha Goood times!

Haha yeah, I guess I could have done that too. He put in a lot of work for a circle jerk. I mean he had coursework and everything! I remember him bragging about how much his kid made streaming on YouTube.

Sounds like some good updates to me. Happy to see the rules on AI artwork required photographic relevance. I think that's great

It won't really be an issue to a vast majority of our users... but hopefully, the ones it applies to will see this and take heed. That's about the other platforms and chain. As far as AI, i am very open to how it can augment our art here in the photography field. But, it's going to be tough to keep up with in the future. If the AI art doesn't fit here in Photography Lovers... Alien Art, and a couple other AI ART specific communities are open to it. Just put effort in and boom!

This' really incredible and we'll expatiated for every photographer to follow and the rules are quite simple but the publication itself is more than being justified a quality article. The mods in this community are tenaciously doing great 🙋

I completely support this new rules update. I may not post frequently in this community, but it's one of my most beloved community, second only to Pinmapple. Posts in these communities make me feel good about the world.

The Steem and Blurt issue has been long overdue. Staying away from those chains should have been the most moral and logical choice especially for those who witnessed the saga. Staying in those chains means you support tyranny as long as you earn some coins.

Man, coming from you, the OCD workhorse, that means a lot to hear! It's always a pleasure to see your posts here in the community. I'm glad this community and the beauty within reminds you of the goodness still in the world. The beauty shared here is absolutely stunning more often than not!!!

As far as the other chain... being over there is a personal choice, but that choice will come with consequences. For some, it might be worth sticking with what they have going over there... and more power to them. Most new users here and there probably don't know anything about all the drama. Wait until the movie/documentary comes out! Then i would fully agree with your final statement!

For those who didn't know, I won't find fault in them. I'm referring to those who knew and yet continued to be there. I agree that it's their choice and I won't take it from them. I just won't support them. It's only those two chains anyway. People can still post to any platform except those two and I'll still support them here in Hive.

It's becoming more and more of an issue...so i thought it would be a good time to address ths situation. It's not hard to note that text or images are/were AI generated... but soon, it will probably be the same policy as plagiarism. We do have art communities more open to the possibilities without restrictions. So, don't worry browski.

Sorry, can you explain more clearly? What does "inactive on Steеm" mean? Can the absence of posts during last 2 years be considered sufficient? Can I continue to curate the friends remaining there, and not completely withdraw all the coins from my account?

0
0
0.000
avatar

Sure, i will try my best. For example, I just pulled up your account on Steemit. It says you were active 20 hours ago. I looked at your posting activity and saw that you are not that active posting content. You are mildly active in commenting and do have wallet activity. All of that is 'Active of Steem'.

'Inactive on Steem' would be where there haven't been any posting of content or comments. There would be no further wallet activity, and the account would then therefore become Inactive.

So, as you asked, the last 2 years of not posting is not sufficient due to the other activities.

You can continue to curate any accounts that you wish. However, that curation towards your friends remaining there must be here on Hive. If you continue to curate them on Steem then that will keep you in an 'active' status as a user there on Steem.

You can leave all of your coins on Steem in your wallet, or you can exchange them for something else. But ongoing wallet and transaction activity on Steem will also keep a user in an 'active' status.

I hope this helps clarify a bit for you.

I have given a period of time (which will be fairly generous) in order for everyone to make their decisions, arrangements, and take whichever actions suit them and their situation the best. There is no ill will towards any users there, but rewards from Hive (from this community at least) will only be distributed to those that are Hive exclusive.

Thank you for such detailed explanations, everything is clear to me now. Justin Sun, of course, acted disgustingly in that case, not as a person of a decentralized world:))) but I never considered this as a reason to leave Steemit. I'll think about it.

Yes, give it some thought... just on ethics. Don't think that you will be muted off of Hive if you want to stay over there. It's only for this Photography Lovers community. Think of PL's as the Shire.... and Hive is Rohan, Gondor, and the other realms of free-folk.

Consider Steem as Mordor and Justin Sun is the Mouth of Sauron. Blurt is Wormtongue... and even though you are a LadyNazgool..... it's never too late to choose the light! hahaha

Only infringement on someone else's property is unacceptable for me. And all these labels - light, darkness - mean nothing and are often used to justify encroachments on the property and lives of others:)))

Well, Steem functions off of stolen infrastructure and Millions of dollars worth of stolen funds of the architects and operators of that infrastructure. Blurt created a parasitic, negative, encroachment upon the Hive reward pool. I just wanted to make a lighthearted comment as a nice gesture based on the theme of your name.

People should read the story of the beginning of Hive if at all. Hopefully with the release of the documentary, many more people will understand why it is about disassociating HIVE from everything concerning STEEM.
I am very happy about the decision to not directly deny the use of AI, because there is so much future ahead with that mixed with photography that it would be a shame. Here I leave you the instagram of Rebeca Saray a professional photographer and great retoucher who has integrated AI to her creative process. Even at the expense of great detractors, but, the same was said about Photoshop when it came out, so....🤔
For my part, and related to the work itself, you should know that you can count on my help whenever you need it.🤗

Totally! It's not really about competition since it would be a no-contest... but more about the people who have developed Hive, operate, and maintain it were literally robbed of millions of dollars and countless hours of time they will never get back. The Hive community starts with the user but begins with the devs and witnesses making it all possible.

Thank you so very much! People were up in arms over digital photography even before photoshop. I think it will be a bumpy road, but that there is a bright future for a synergy between the art and tech. We have seen how fast it has developed in the art realm... now, think of the possibilities of the direction things are heading in photography! It's insane.

I truly and deeply appreciate and value your support. The Cubans are some of my favorite PhotoLovers!!!1

Great rules, i agree with all of them. I just have a question regarding the one for models.

If I take some pictures of any model, let's say my wife @aylenmp, can she post them here? Sharing his experience as a model of course.

0

0.000
avatar

Great question. In the rules, it states that the person posting here in PL must either be the photographer or the model.

So, short answer, Yes. If you take photos of models/businesses/products etc. and they want to use your photography on their account... then that is permissible. If you wanted to also post the content for your own display of your photography... that too is permissible.

However, posting the same content is recycling (as i'm sure you know)... so there would have to be a difference in how the content is formatted and posted about. If these accounts were all run by an individual or group of individuals... it could be considered farming for rewards.

So, not that you need a warning but for the sake of clarity and for others reading this response, open transparency and accrediting the proper sources and individuals in proper context is always the safest bet.

It is not stated in the rules, but if an individual had the proper legal rights to the photos then they may also be used.... but that wouldn't apply to 99.9% so i didn't write that one.

I hope this answer wasn't too overcomplicated!

I already knew what you were going to say but it's better to be sure. What happens is that sometimes I have some photos I don't like but she does so, until now she hasn't posted any but it could be a good way for her to create content and not only with my photos cause we know many photographers. But I'll always tell her to leave any link to the photographer or the user if he/she is on Hive. Thank you for answering bro and keep rocking!

So, your situation that you just described would be a version of that 1% users that unwritten rule would apply to. You would essentially be giving her the 'rights' to use your photography.

So, she can post using your photography and just have a credit to you somewhere in the post, under the photo, or in the footer... that kind of thing. It's mostly just to ensure that the photos in a post aren't presented in a way where they appear to be taken by the poster as the photographer, when in fact they aren't.

Plus, there is a bit of some flexibility when it comes to husbands and wives intermingling content. Just as long as it's all transparent and done proper... there isn't anything to worry about. I also hope this answer was complete enough for you.
You Keep Rockin it too bro!

Phew!!! When I saw the title of the post, got scared. I thought sh*t photographers like me will be kicked out. So I went and read this novel with a terrible headache, to find out I'm safe for now.

I agree with the rules by the way. There are so many users that deserve support, why should those who post on every platform be curated.

Thanks for your time and attention, especially whilst under duress. You are not a shit photographer and we all have to start somewhere. Plus, your art museum posts are good examples of using the art of photography to not just show off art pieces but add something extra.

We have had a bunch of artists take a photo or two (if they were generous) of sketches and posted it in Photography Lovers. While technically it's photography... it's better suited to an art community. I don't think anyone ever responded to any of my warnings so now it's just straight up muted.

I highly doubt you are posting on Steem(ing pile of shit) or Blurt.... but i will have to investigate, since the safe for now mention in the post was so that it wouldn't just be a bunch of people getting the boot without time to change behavior or become aware of the change.
hahahha This actually will not affect 98% of our community.

Thank you brother for the update of the rules. What about the minimum characters used?

0

avatar

That's an interesting question. We don't have a minimum or maximum character requirement. You can write as much or as little as you want surrounding your photography or about whatever you want really using your photography as a bonus.

The main thing to focus on when posting in Photography Lovers, or anywhere on Hive, is your quality. Fewer quality words in context can sometimes be a better post than a lot of words that don't add value or context to the post.

Posting more than one photo in a post and having something to say about your content is the best formula for success. The more effort you put in consistantly, the better your end results will be in the long and short run!

This explanation is very extraordinary and easy for me to understand. I'm very grateful to you and also the community Photography Lovers team.

Hello Cas!!! Sorry to write you here about it, but it was either this or the DM on twitter😅, so I opted for the less invasive way. 😁
It happens to me that many times I want to mention the Photography Lovers community on Twitter, but I don't think it exists...like Alien Art and others...
Being PL, one of the largest in HIVE... we could have a twitter account pleaseeee.
It is that they are like lacking something, the tweets when I can only name the community but not tag them, I imagine that happens to many others. I repeat, my offer of help, because I know it is a giant community🤗

Wow! Yes, this would be a great idea. I don't get on Twitter often at all... and really just to share the community posts and Posh. It would be nice to talk to you about this and a few other things community oriented. Feel free to dm on discord at any time @ castleberry#6859

I really do appreciate your offer to help out or collaborate. It means a lot to me and i do think that promoting and growing the community would be a very wise thing to due sooner rather than later. I am a couple of days late on my curation so i am catching up now with that. Once i get caught up a bit more.... then i will have time to discuss. Message me whenever you want and i will get back to you ASAP.

It’s a right decision and I need to confess I used to post on Steemit up until a year ago. I couldn’t make a decision for a long time. Steemit was great strat until changes happened and it was hard for me to leave it, as it was my first platform for blogging. I moved all my steem to hive. I check Steemit from time to time but, don’t do anything. So my account is ‘inactive’, no posting, comments, or wallet activity. I don’t really know how to delete the account to be honest, tried to look in the settings there but didn’t see such an option.

You can't delete an account or activity on either chain. I don't fault or blame anyone that was taking advantage of the fork splitting and for most doubling their assets. So much happens on the chains it can be impossible to know what is going on in areas unrelated to where most users are having their experience.

If a person on Steem didn't know what happened and was still active over there while being here as well, i didn't have a problem with that. But, after all this time and it becoming more of a task to keep bouncing around url's checking everyone over and over it's easier to just remove folks from my curation options.

Anyone active before the hardfork for HIVE has a steemit account. It's the activity there that will determine who stays and goes here. But, i am going to really be generous with theh time period of amnesty and try to directly communicate the change to all those this might impact. Thanks for commenting and you have nothing to worry about. Cheers!

I think rules like this are perfect, I really support things like this. Let people know hive is not an ordinary platform. What about macro photography,

Really, the only change is that people on Steemit and Blurt will eventually be muted from posting in this community. That, and AI guidelines for applying that as a tool in photography posts in the community. All the other rules are still the same.

As far as topics, we welcome all topical ranges of subject matter and styles of photography. Macrophotography is one of our primary community featured focuses. Portrait, Wildlife, Landscape, Long Exposure, LightPainting, MacroPhotography, Architecture, Street and Candid, Analog, Digital, Smartphone, Artistic Nude, Sensual to Erotic (but nothing pornographic or too vulgar), Black and White, and i am sure i am missing other valid categories for what is suitable here in the community. Hope that answers your question and maybe somebody else's too. Cheers bro!

Sorry I'm late @zaenfullmoon in giving this response. I fully agree and comply with the rules at Hive, but if there is an unintentional mistake by the photographer, it should be the party Hive forgave him once, but if it happens twice, you can whisper it✍️🙏

I really don't know what you are referring to in regard to 'unintentional mistakes.' If you have anything specific you are wanting to ask... please feel free. Otherwise, The penalties for not following the community rules and guidelines for Hive and the Photography Lovers Community will be the same as it always has been.

Hello how are you ? Thanks for all the valuable information.
I have an old steemit account that was never really active and quickly giving up. I did not find how to close it. Will my ecency account be locked out if I don't close the other on steemit? I don't use it anymore or not at all I prefer ecency which is more practical and better done with also a very good community?
The problem for me is really the language barrier which limits me in understanding how it works.
Thank you in advance for your answer which is always good advice. You helped me a lot to progress on this community and I admit it without you I could have abandoned the blog

Hello my old friend! It's wonderful to see you.
First, to help you understand a bit better, Ecency.com is a front-end for users just like Peakd.com (which is the one i prefer to use) and Hive.blog which are all built on the HIVE blockchain.

Steemit and it's other frontends are built on the Steem blockchain. HIVE used to be STEEM until a lot of bad things happened. To make a long story short, many of the operators and developers were robbed illegally and the STEEM blockchain was hijacked.

Many of those people who lost millions of dollars and countless hours of time forked HIVE off of STEEM and excluded all the bad actors from being able to have their accounts over here.

A hardfork is complicated to explain but lets just say Steem split at the point HIVE was born and HIVE took all that was on Steem and migrated the data here. HIVE is now a completely separate chain and now things are going to boom here.

Having an account over there will not limit you from anything here on Hive or any of it's frontends. This post and rule change was to let those that are active on Steemit and Blurt (i won't waste your time explaining that one) that they will be muted or excluded from this Photography Lovers Community. They will still be on Hive and can post where they want, just not here. They will also have plenty of time to not be active over there to be able to stay here if that's what they choose.

I just looked at your account over there and it said you were active three hours ago... but i couldn't see any posting, commenting, engaging, sharing, or activity of any other kind. So, this rule change wouldn't apply to you already.

Thank you so much for sharing what you did about the impact that i have had for you here. That meant so much to me to hear... i almost had a tear. Thank you.

It's not a very good translation but i hope this helps you!

Salut mon vieil ami !

Merci.

If anyone takes the time and excercises the practice and patience to learn and grow... smartphones can work better for some than professional equipment. Not everyone can afford expensive equipment either and Smartphone Photography is a legit art. Thanks for commenting and know you are appreciated!

I have read the rules and I do not agree with them. I am a small hobby photographer and post on Steem, Hive and Blurt. Now I will not stop with it either. Den what is always forgotten is the work that goes into the photos. To take a photo I have to spend money, e.g. gasoline, hotel room, entrance fees, electricity and my workload in editing. They do not even begin to outweigh what I earn here and all 3 together. Please don't get me wrong, but as an entrepreneur I can't afford to focus on just one platform. It's true I am an entrepreneur, have a small business and also pay taxes.
It would be like telling me to only talk to a certain group of people and ignore the rest of humanity. If I don't get any more votes, it's a pity but it can't be changed. I always felt that I was in good hands. Greetings Hornet-on-tour

Hey, I see where you're coming from...especially from a financial perspective. However, this is an executive decision specific to this photo lover community. In this community, we cannot support any post or user that violates the Community Guidelines. It wasn't an easy decision for me... and I hate losing even one of our photographers because of it.

There will be ample time for those who choose to remain in the Photography Lovers Community to make arrangements. But if this is the case, active Blurt and Steemit users will be banned from the Photography Lovers community without ill will.

This is simply a conflict of interest between the HIVE ecosystem and the PL community regarding theft by those running Steemit leading to even having the need to create HIVE. Due to your active status in these other chains, you have not been financially curated here for a long time.

I have personally endorsed your great photography for a very long time. Here you would have earned more if you had already posted exclusively on Hive. But I understand where you're coming from and I'm sorry if you don't feel like you're in good hands anymore. But remember...the decision to be removed from the hands of this community is yours...not mine. Plus, there are 70ish other photography communities on Hive apart from ours.

  • Not the best translation

@castleberry

I can understand it in a way, you quite well. So I talked with my wife to get another point of view. I can at least say that my wife has no idea about Steem, Hive or Blurt. Had we then still a very long conversation about it and have weighed the pros and cons.

I assume that the translation is correct and the rule says that I should only be active on Hive. Is that correct?

Now I have also slept on it for a night and also got a different angle on it. Should it really be that I get more with Hive than how it is now from the three blockchains combined. I would be really stupid not to think about it. With Steem I don't see a problem because that's dead and there not worth it for the few cents. But with Blurt I'm in a little deeper. I'm a curator there too, just like you. Also the question remains for me how do I get the money from Blurt to Hive, without major losses.

Also, some would be happy to see me break down the tents on Blurt and continue with you here on Hive.

To be honest, I need the support of the #Photographylovers community for this way.

@castleberry

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I hope i didn't sound as if i was trying to have a negative attitude with you. I am not excited about having to deal with the drama that this decision may cause for some. But, in the end, i think it will all be worth it in the long run.

It's good you took some time to think about it a bit. Like i said, i am not going to just start banning people without proper notice and time to make the best decisions for their own personal situations. After explaining, your situation sound a bit more complicated than most.

I will start by saying that it's true Steem is dying and has been for a very long time. Secondly, the theft from those that own and operate Steem blockchain is really what the issue is. Being over there at all and profiting is a form of taking advantage of the fact that the system there even generates any revenue at all. There would be no HIVE if it was not for the executive level and organized theft and hijacking of the Steem blockchain.

Most users, like yourself, probably had NOTHING to do with any of that. It's unfortunate that it ever happened to begin with... but i am glad because Hive was designed to fix all the flaws that Steem had for a long time that some witnesses didn't want to change or correct. But, it's extremely unfortunate that many users have been caught in the middle.

Now that we have an independent chain of our own, it's insulting to many that are witnesses and developers (that got robbed of millions of dollars and time developing the chain) that have had to migrate over here. For them, which are usually the biggest curators or are accounts/groups with Whale stake that people like me work for/with, that will not financially curate people active on Steem. That has been a deal for a very long time.

As the community manager and curator, i have overlooked that, to not have anyone here excluded or punished due to financial choices to stay active on both chains. For me, this community has always been more focused on Photography, not policy and politics. But, as a curator, you know how much time and effort goes into keeping things legit. So, to keep up with who gets featured in the community curations (which as you can see are very many users) and then split which ones are nominated for financial curation, then check if those noms for $ curation are up to the standards of what qualifies to be curated... is all too much to keep up with.

Even with the help of bots to keep track i have been reprimanded many times for nominating accounts that are active on Steemit or Blurt which are both limiting factors. So, to have a list and then a list within that list... and then a list within that list of lists... is a ridiculous amount of oversight on my part for one of the largest communities on HIVE.

I know many of the people that personally had their money and stake stolen and i don't blame them for being bitter towards the Steem and Tron ecosystems. I also feel like it's the right ethical choice to stay and be exclusively active here on Hive once a user becomes aware of the full story of why HIVE even exists. There will be a movie/documentary about it all coming out sometime soon. Maybe that will give you some more context to understand in more depth.

Since Steem is dying/dead it makes no sense to stay there for cents... especially at the cost of missing out over here in many ways of finance and support. If i'm not wrong, you made more off of two comments from me than your last three posts in a month combined on Steemit.

Blurt is a whole different issue. Many, but not all, of the same core devs and witnesses do not approve of Blurt for the simple reason it removed the downvote feature. Since downvoting is not an option to adjust rewards within the 7 day window.... there is way too much opportunity to abuse the reward pool.

Since Blurt operates using the Hive economy... to eliminate one of the checks and balances within the reward sysetem creates something that simply cannot be supported by those who have already had to make a whole new blockchain to avoid abuse. I get their point and understand why many do not support active Blurt users.

For me, i can't individually check every day the posts as it is. To go check blurt and steemit to see if they are active to see if i can maybe get them some bigger money votes is simply not worth my time. I don't make much running things anyways. I hardly ever post on my own account because i am too busy helping everyone else grow. To me, this seems unfair... but it comes with the job.

So, it's really your choice. I'm glad you discussed it with your partner and slept on it a bit. There will still be plenty of time to figure it out. I am sure converting any second layer token back into Hive is an option on HiveEngine, LeoFinance, or many of the other internal exchanges.

I know it's a pain in the ass... but if you look back at all of this in 10 years.... where do you want to have spent most of your time and energy making connections and growing stake? Which of the three options has the best long-term future and potential? If you and your partner read and discuss this response, hopefully it will give a better perspective on the reasoning behind my personal choice and the context behind the scenes as to why this move is one that will avoid more issues in the future.

It's not my style to limit people's freedoms and liberties. It's not my style to try to control people's decisions or behavior. So, i totally understood what you meant in your analogy about saying it's like telling users they can't be friends or communicate with a certain other group for discriminatory reasons. If that were the case, i would have fully agreed with your position. This is a much larger issue than that and it's scope is even beyond me. I took a break from Steemit for a while due to life getting busy and came back to a whole world of shit i didn't even know about. Having to figure it all out was a long tough process... and now, here we are.

  • I will try another crappy Google Translate to say the same things in German for you.

Ok, I am now in the process of shutting down my Steem account and then converting Steem to Hive. On Blurt, I am currently withdrawing all delegation and will then move to Hive. From now on, posts will only be made public on Hive and no other blockchain. I'm going to follow through with this now!

Dude, that's awesome to hear! I am really happy to hear that you decided to stay. It's going to be weeks before i begin to take action, and i will make a few reminder posts for everyone that isn't aware of this new change. So, don't feel any pressure to stress over doing all that it takes to begin to move out of those positions.

If you know of any other users this might impact, perhaps tell them about it and let them decide for themselves what works best for them in their situation. That would help save some time and trouble later once this new policy goes into action. Thanks for the cordial exchange, and i am super happy you are sticking with Photography Lovers and HIVE!

i do understand it from OCD curation point. especially on cross posting of the same photos and text. As it affects the search discoverability. i am not sure if they also lost funds in the takeover, that would make even more sense.

with activity i feel it just adds more almost not necessary work to curation.

what if someone is active on steem an is converting all the steem to hive? :)

I mentioned a bit of the story in a comment above about the devs and witnesses that are now most of who runs curation operations here at HIVE. Yes, OCD is primarily who i curate for and this community is in the Incubation Program. I'm not exactly sure if or who/how they were affected, since there are many.

So, the community can curate for whichever posts we want individually or like in the Hotshots posts. But to be nominated for OCD takes certain measures of curation scrutiny.

Most of the measures are to keep rewards to under-rewarded users, newer accounts growing, and limit abuse etc. Keeping up with it all is a pain in the balls.
The thing about keeping up with the blurters and steemians is to go over and check when they were active last and look over at that stuff. They might have not been active last time i nommed them and then became active again later or vice-versa.

For me, it's best to just focus on Hive and have people in this community that want to do the same. The time and/or effort over on those places isn't worth the rewards unless they were pretty well vested before the theft. I would love to just have an army of bots over there just funneling shitpost rewards over here into the HIVE ecosystem but i'm not skilled enough for that. I don't know many people that swap Steem for Hive. I am now curious to know how much of their rewards shift to the Hive ecosystem.

I saw the signs of these no-steem, no-blurt requirements coming somewhere in the middle of the last year so I dropped them other BCs all. Logged a couple of times just to withdraw. To answer your last question, I have fully converted all my STEEM to HIVE. Twice. The first time was after the split and the second, gradually, started last year summer. Not the best thing to do from financial perspective as my country is the poorest in EU and every cent really matters. Just to note that up to that point I have never powered down. I fully understand and share all the concerns that @hornet-on-tour speaks about. For instance, my photo equipment costs much more than the total amount I've ever "made" on all of them chains. I believe I generally provide good stuff here and I always post my best photos, accompanied by my own text, thoughts, reflections. To be honest, I haven't seen any spark of increased support since I "killed" my activities on the other blockchains. Moreover, I wasn't posting the same stuff, a.k.a. cross-posting, but instead, every post I publish on HIVE is exclusive.
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining at all, at least I am not getting any big downvotes and from all I see, that's around the corner.
I have accepted long time ago that sometimes people just "tick" on different frequencies, or have different energies, or just don't like each other, or just come from different planets. Call it whatever you like, it's the same thing. Sooner or later we all find our homes, right...
Just needed to put that out. Nothing will change and it is sad to see we are more and more absorbing the negatives from the real world, with all the wars and natural disasters happening lately. People keep disconnecting more and more... HIVE can be much better than that, I am 100% sure.
Cheers!

I'm glad to see your comments. I almost missed it. Behind the curation scenes, this has been an ongoing discussion and to some degrees a debate. There were compromises made to get to this point. I won't downvote people here on Hive just because they may or may not be active on other chains, unless it's for a specific person and reason.

For a while some people were being curated so long as they had separate content on say Steem vs Hive. So, like you said how you actually put in the extra effort to accommodate both sides by not crossing the double-dip line to just post the same content here and there. I respect that. It is the extra effort you were putting in to do that... that i as a curator have to do at like a 100000x level.

I also understand that every cent counts due to economic situations for many all over the world. That's why i never made a move like this until now. I could have made my life much easier a very long time ago... but i don't like limiting options.

From what i saw, you haven't posted into the Photography Lovers Community in a long time and it's been pretty sparse for quite some time. That's not a criticism, but to speak to your lack of more curation or support on HIVE. You seem to post in B&W, Photographic Society,Photofeed, and Stock Images mostly.

None of those communities are in the OCD Incubation program, but those are all the 'Handful of Hive Quality Level' alternate photography group options for the people who want to stay active on Steem and Blurt that i vicariously mentioned in the post. I'm not active in those communities so i don't know the engagement, posting count, and reward stats to know how their metrics look.

I curate for OCD and Photography Lovers Community. I can nominate posts in this community, but not from those others. We don't curate cross posts and we also have for OCD curation a guideline that a user cannot already be over rewarded. That is a bit vague at times... but you have a high reputation and if you have some other high paying posts at the same time.... the voters for OCD might decide to not upvote at that time. But this is just one factor to maybe why you haven't seen an uptick since focusing on HIVE.

If i am not mistaken, and i very well could be, i think you might have been one of the first Light Painters or Long Exposure photographers that i came across on here back in the day.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and chiming in!

Hey, I am glad too, that you've responded to my comment.

I really hate to have brough the "financial" part of that as if you check my first posts on the legacy chain, you'll see that it took more than an year before I got a post with two-digits rewards, hehehe. So trust me when I share that I've built my reputation with persistent and consistent efforts and investing a lot of time and resources.

Let me be perfectly honest with regards to "Photography Lovers".

I prefer my works to be appreciated by people who genuinely like what I do and share here. You realize that people come and sometimes dump a large amount of photos here just hoping to get a fat OCD vote. Nothing wrong with that but I actually cannot compete with that volume. My photos are not so many 'cause I spend more time creating each one of them. Also, I support some people who post mostly in PL and I get support by people who post mostly in PL ;)

The second reason I don't post in PL anymore is that I've been featured many times in your curation posts but rarely been given a vote. Those were not trending nor hot/highly rewarded posts. I am certain it wasn't the rewards though. I can't say why and I don't know what's going under the hood, probably too much work for you as a single curator, but from my perspective this felt not quite pleasant. Also, there is a risk at some point my posts to be muted and the photos hidden. Speaking from my own experience; to be muted with no reason and explanation, no breaking any rules and trying to put up my best... is a bit insulting, right... I hope you understand my concerns.

those are all the 'Handful of Hive Quality Level' alternate photography group options for the people who want to stay active on Steem and Blurt

Well, I can't speak on behalf of the moderators of those communities but I bet that label isn't correct and some of them wouldn't be happy to read that. As I noted that I am no longer active on the other chains, I am not aware if they do anything there either. For instance, I post in the B&W community as B&W is a passion of mine and I appreciate the support I get in that community as well.

I can only speak about "Photographic Society" that I created so people who like to discuss the aspects of Photography like concepts, techniques, equipment, news, photogenic places, etc. have a place to do that, as PL is more about sharing photos. There was a suggestion to apply for OCD incubation but now seeing you consider it "alternate photography group" I guess probably that would be a waste of time. Moreover, I am a modest introverted guy and begging for money isn't my thing.

Thank you for everything! I rarely do Light-painting but I really love Long Exposure.
Wishing you a great weekend,
LC

I am actually glad you brought up the financial part. I doubt many would be here or any of the other places if money wasn't involved. I haven't always been the principal manager of PL community and i wasn't always a curator or mod in this community. I also started on the legacy chain and don't even remember when i had a post that was anything near what my lowest posts get now.

But, if you look at my 'all posts' tab on my blog... i don't even get time to post my own stuff. Not complaining, but showing how i sacrifice a my own growth and financial development to help foster the growth of newer and other users in a HIVE spirit.

I am essentially, the only active OCD curator in PL, at the current time and for a while now. So, it has been heavy to go through all those photo dumps you mention. But, i usually only miss a day or two here and there where i don't get my noms in on time.

I still feature them in the Community Curation posts so the community can still come and vote and it advertises everyone to everybody else in the community. It's really for you all to support each other. Not all featured in there are curated by OCD.

I add the OCD and the personal picks to the community post and have to keep up with which one is which and a whole bunch of other behind the scenes stuff. But, i have always kept an eye out for your posts because i don't remember one that didn't deserve some extra appreciation.

I have never muted anyone who didn't deserve it or get multiple warnings first. In the earlier days many people were muted for reasons i don't know. So, i really can't speak to that part.

I don't want you to think i was being critical in any way about where you are posting. I think it's awesome you started that Photographic Society Community and when i meant HIVE standards i was talking about quality communities or at least some of the Photographers posting in there were enough to make it up to par. I can't speak for how they run or manage their communities or curate etc.

I think there is room on HIVE for many different communities. Not all of HIVE is making rules about Steem use and Blurt. It's just a decision for this PL community and an also to honor our connection to OCD and those that lost their finances and time making STEEM. When i said alternate group... i just mean a community that is not Photography Lover Community. I didn't mean it in a diminishing way.

When i looked up the 70-80ish photography communities on HIVE 98% or more of them were garbage. T

The handful of other options that would be worth posting in, i said were up to HIVE standards, were the ones that you are active in. Those have quality photography and users. I am familiar with them as many i follow post into those communities.

I support them as other photography groups on Hive that have good content in their communities.
More power to them all, if they are letting scammers scam. That's really my main concern. Plagiarism and reward farming or reusing/recycling the same posts and content multiple times to milk rewards. Those are my main concerns.

My personal philosophy is To Each Their Own. But this decision here, will make my life easier and hopefully pull our community together even more.

I don't think you are or ever have begged for votes and there is a process to apply for the OCD Incubation program. I am not sure what all the exact requirements are. You could always apply in their discord if you want. The worst thing that could happen is they would say we already have a Photography Community in the incubation program.

If you were to describe how your community is more oriented on the specs, technical details, history, and all the more academic and scientific approach, you might have a better position to fit you into a niche that isn't as general as this community.

So, i am sorry for any negative experiences you have had in the Photography Lovers community in the past and i hope my answer here gave enough context to give a bigger picture of how things can slip through cracks or how this is all a long game. I can say that i will do my best to DO MY BEST and i hope you consider posting in here again!

Thanks again for bringing more light onto that matter and for the invitation.
That's what I am trying to do. Comprehend the bigger picture. That's extremely difficult to do, moreover, many things are left unspoken.
I will give it some time to see if/how those new requirements change PL. Hopefully for better.
I forgot to mention one of the not-so-many posts in the Photographic Society already got a OCD vote. The community is gradually getting better, but it's still a baby, created just a few months ago and less than 100 subscribers but almost the half of them are active and post. And as you said, people follow the money trail so unless I invest heavily there, or a whale suddenly decides to support the initiative with no particular invitation, only those who are passionate (or those who seek my attention) will contribute. :)

Yes, though we have a top subscriber spot the active members don't reflect the total subs. However, most of those that are active are all very supportive of each other and we are all trying to grow together like you guys over there!

If you got any OCD votes... that's great and if you continue to grow and maintain high standards within your community and have high activity... then those are most of the prerequisites i am aware of for valid entry into incubation program. Right now, a lot of curation is going toward aid and relief so now might not be the best time to apply.

If you ever want to talk in private about any unspoken things or otherwise, feel free to message me on discord @ castleberry#6859

Congratulations on your success so far and i wish you all the best!

i do agree with this new updates, it will help to keep the quality of the community really great as always, in my part i leaved steemit and blurt time ago, i have post on steemit from months ago but when i finded out about the interest problems in the two platform i choose my side and i stayed with hive, so now all my content goes to hive!

Holly crap, good things I read pinned posts. I see, there is a problem, I informed myself about steem and history and all (still looking forward to that documentary tho)... Well, to be honest, there is nothing much to think about, of course, I choose Hive. This is my home. I am powering down and closing the account. I just need to figure out how to sell those coins and invest in hive.

Well, looks like my steem activity cost me OCD curation in past. Is there a way for redemption or do curators simply remember the user and you are done?

And I have another question. As you said, you are busy curating and checking the content. Will there be any new spots for curators? I would LOVE to be more involved here on HIVE. Especially now, when I will have free time since no activity on steem (joke).

Thank you for explaining this and heads up.

I definitely think you made the right choice. I am looking forward to that documentary too. I don't even know ALL the details. I think you can use Hive Engine or maybe LeoFinance to swap your Steem or Blurt into Hive or other tokens you can pair with. I have no idea what options there are as i think i sent mine through one of the decentralized exchanges and then had to convert there and then move back into Hive. There are better ways now... but there should be plenty of time to get things figured out.

Yes, you probably have missed out on some curation due to that activity on the other spots. You definitely have some top-notch photography! So glad to hear you are choosing to stick around. Hope to see you more. Your photo in the Extravaganza was one of my favs. Cheers

I haven't sold any hive or steem in the past, so I need to check this one, yes. Maybe wait for some good pump/dump situation and use it to get the max hive out. Thank you, will check in Hive Engine for sure.

Thank you, I am glad you like my work. I will keep the content good and make sure there will be no duplication of the photos. I just hope curators will recognize this and I can get their trust back.

Regards

Posting over there was never a lack of trust to support over here... it was a matter of principal, for the curator guilds. So, you never lost trust just opportunity. Your opportunity to be possibly financially curated will come back when the inactivity period is achieved. You won't get muted here when that day comes in the future since you are in the process of taking the proper course of action. It's my hope to give everyone that same leeway so nobody goes unnecessarily. Definitely try to get the most for the least when you make your moves.

Reposting old Steem content or duplicate Hive content, unless significant content addition has been added, can get downvotes for anyone anywhere on Hive. Some aren't aware of that and try to migrate their oldest Steem stuff and sometimes get into a bit of trouble.

Decentralized platforms are awesomely free... but difficult to coordinate so that COMMON KNOWLEDGE CAN BE UNIVERSALLY KNOW TO ALL USERS. I tried to make a few USER GUIDES for the stuff we all had to learn the hard way. It might have some tips in there for you... but you probably already know most of the stuff in there.

Anyways, i just answered your other comment on your post so feel free to not respond to this one or that one. hahahhaha See ya around and keep on keepin' on!

Posting the same here and on steem isn't a problem anyway. I am putting mine exclusively on Hive. Thank you for your explanation and contribution here on Hive. Cheers

I'm really glad I read this. I don't really know where to start with a comment. I'm having this ridiculous image of Richard Nixon and his "I'm not a crook" thing. Well. I'm not.

I wasn't entirely aware of the details of what led to Hive. I remember being afraid I was going to lose everything. From there to here, learning how to do anything has been hard for me. I've just started a power down "over there" I have no idea how Hive will go for me in the future. I feel pretty bad about the whole thing. I'm just not a writer. My brain doesn't go there. It makes everything so much more difficult. I'm quite a talker at times but none of that enthusiasm will really show here. It's hard to understand or grasp all the goings on here. I just wanted to post things and hoped to earn a little extra to make ends meet. I power down here to buy food. Yes. That is pretty pathetic. It's what things have devolved to. The joy of creation is what has been the driving force for me for 64 years. That is being eroded in so many ways. Ok... I'm going on far too much.

Man, Ross... i have had to bypass nominating some of your posts for a long time over the fact you were on Steemit. You are not a crook and neither am i or anyone else that started over there that had nothing to do with that stuff. If you don't even know what happened, i assure you, you are not The Crooks.

untitled.gif

I took a break for many months on Steemit and came back to having no idea what HIVE was or what was going on with Steem and Tron and all the other drama stuff. I was afraid to post since i had friends that were in the middle of it all.

I am younger than you and it was extremely difficult for me to figure out all this crypto stuff. I would imagine it might have been even more difficult for you... maybe not. I am still figuring it out, actually. hahaha

Thank you for your power down over there. I just saw that you did and it means a lot to me that you took immediate action. This will make your life easier to just post on HIVE anyway. Plus, soon you will be eligible again for curation that isn't just a feature in the Community HotShots posts... but for possible higher rewards. This will help your future here on HIVE, and HIVE's future looks very bright!!!

I want to encourage you to not feel bad for not being a writer. Photography isn't necessarily something that needs words. However, it is nice to have some textual content to your post to show effort. Ultimately, your posts here, are curated on your photography. I have never selected anyone in this community for the stuff they write in the post. It's always based on the photos included in the post.

I also want to encourage you that it isn't pathetic to use this amazing opportunity to buy anything and supplement your finances. I didn't use any rewards until last year for the first time. I let my Hive Power stay half of my rewards so i always grow, and my vote grows, and my curation return grows,.... but i use my other half of Hive Dollar rewards to move out and take profits. It's not much, but like you, it helps to get me by.

I think the way i do it helps the account continue to grow while also getting some profit out at the same time. Powering down constantly will fluctuate your rewards and create time tables of longer waits etc. All things to consider moving forward here.

I am sure you will be happier in the long run and it's my hope that you will revive your passion to create and share your shots. Don't let all the details in the middle help erode anything. Hang in there and things are going to get easier and better!

Thank you for your kind message! I would have left entirely "over there" much sooner if I had known. There must have been posts and discussions I didn't see?

I had hoped to manage my account like you are doing. That was a goal for a long time. Hopefully I can get that happening at some point. Thanks again for your post about all this and your reply!

I should have told you sooner. I blame myself. I am not always as social as i can be on here since i am so busy doing the behind the scenes stuff. I have read all the rules it seems legit to protect the community and phtography lovers either some will disagree with the point of sharing in multiple chains to earn more for me it's not an issue i share my content here exclusively and I'm satisfied with this and I'll keep it going as long as i feel comfortable in here we have also to say thanks to all of you mods curators and users for keeping this community better day after day i notice the quality improvement in the picture either the text.

Yeah... I understand about the problems between the users of these two platforms, and what you said about it is very true.
Well, because of this problem, i wanna ask somethink if i can, i'm so sorry before because i'm asking this question...

So, for those who are still considered Steem / Blurt users, is it because they haven't withdrawn all of their assets in Steem / Blurt, or cash out it all down. Are those who just leave it without posting there again not considered free from Steem / Blurt ?

0

avatar

Don't be sorry for asking! That's why i made this post was so that things would be announced in advance and so that questions could be answered.

An 'active' user on Steem/Blurt would be someone actively posting, commenting, reblogging, or actively taking rewards in their wallets and wallet activity.

Everyone old enough on Hive has a Steem account. It doesn't matter if someone has rewards over there and leaves them in their inactive wallets... or draws out all their assets and liquidates into other financial positions. Nobody has to convert it to Hive or HBD... but, that is what i would do with mine and power it up here! But, what one does with their rewards or money over on B&S is their own business.

This 'amnesty' time period in Photography Lovers is to give everyone enough time to decide and then move their assets wherever they want.... or not. But once amnesty is over... then it will be a zero tolerance policy for Active users over there for subscribers in this community on Hive only (unless there is a very extenuating circumstance that deserves to be acommodated).

I hope this made sense. From what i could see you aren't active on either and have a tiny bit of Steem or Steem Power you could power down and liquidate. But it's up to you. If you did nothing you would still be within our new policy and would have nothing to worry about. If you want to take your Steem and move it out... now is the time to do that. Amnesty will be ongoing for a while since it takes time to power down and extract etc. Cheers!

Thank you for answering...
Yeah, you were right I have some Steem Power there and it is no longer active after 4 months ago.
I'm just afraid Hive still thinks I'm an active user there and affects everything here, I'm also starting to think about the process of liquidating some of my Steem Power there for the response from this Amnesty period.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the explanation Chief, i'am very appreciate it, Cheers!

Yeah, it can be confusing, especially for those that weren't around for the Split from Steem to HIVE. So, you can liquidate or just leave it inactive. I would take my stake in Steem and get whatever i could for it while that is an option. But, since it's a little amount i don't know if it's worth the trouble for you to do it. Either way, don't worry... it sounds like you chose Hive and you are welcome in the Photography Lovers Community. Cheers!

Well, however i'm the one of Hive user now, so i need to choose my side now, i'm build my own to Hive user from a year ago until now, it was not a easy trip, and i'm not gonna waste it.
Thanks for all explanation, nice to make a little conversation with you, and i really appreciate it. Cheers!

Yes, i know how first-hand how difficult it is to grow your account and following here. By dropping the other places and just using Hive, you will have more focus to just one place (which Hive has many different avenues within the ecosystem) to focus your effort and it will make for better quality use of your time and hopefully translate into your posts. You will definitely find it easier to get better rewards if you aren't active over there! Good to chat with you too and i know i will be seeing you around.

@castleberry Hi. I have been a bit irregular these past 2 months with my posts and catching up on the community due to a lot of travel and also health issues. I appreciate everything that you, other pillars of the community and all the members are trying to do here. I personally have learnt a lot from being part of this community and would like to keep growing with it. At first I was not sure of my brand of wildlife and some nerdy photography stuff would get appreciated but the love and appreciation shown by all of you has really given me a morale boost.

I have a question. I have not been active on Steemit or Blurt - you can see that I have not posted for over a year - ever since I came back from a very long hiatus (3-4 years) of all social media in general (due to a personal tragedy). I came back and found there was suddenly Hive and blurt and POB and what not. Was very confusing for me. Initially I just tried posting everywhere and trying to make sense of each platform. Luckily, some old friends from Alliance community and also members from this community helped me to settle down in Hive and I stopped posting on other platforms totally. However, I have not powered down or moved my crypto assets on other platform - simply because I am not really well versed with transfers and crypto in general. It scares me and I always get tense that I may make some mistake somewhere in the process and lose everything. So - is it possible to get some guidance somewhere on how to move assets (meager but still important to my cause) from other platforms to Hive - is that possible at all? Or should I simply leave them there? Since I am not posting anything there, would I still be considered an 'active member' there?

Sorry for the long comment but thought this community is my home and the best place to seek advice.

Regards,

@vm2904 thanks for responding here. I took a break for about a year and came back to the same confusing chaos you did. It took a while to get the facts and then know where and why the right place to be is Hive.

I just checked your accounts and if i were you, i would power down and liquidate the Steem and Tron in your wallet. It would be worth it to figure out how to move it. I sold all my Steem for Hive a long time ago and doubled my account value here. I am not sure which exchange you use but i think there are some options Here on Hive like LeoFinance or external like Binance. I used Bittrex but it was a long time ago.

I'm like you, it can get all confusing to know how to move things around and not make a mistake and/or lose some along the way. So, you haven't been active there and this rule change wouldn't impact you. If you want to power down and sell your stuff for anything else of your choice... that won't count you as active.

I gave this notice early so people that wanted to stay could power down and have enough time for that to not impact their status. I hope this helps explain a little.

Thanks. The explanation certainly helped. Happy to know the rule change will not impact me. I will, however, try to find out how to power down and move my assets to Hive account. Thanks for all the support and encouragement. You have always been a big help and I would have hated to lose guidance of stalwarts like you. I try to bring posts on photography with a variation and with a lot of hard work - would have hated to lose the avenue that this community provides. Thanks once again. Cheers.

Thanks for the detailed post @castleberry.

Just want to clarify as well, I saw someone else wrote something about it, my last activity on the other platform was 11 months ago (because for some reason my Actifit posts were posted on both (?) 11 months ago). I really love this community and do not want to do anything that will jeopardize it. I guess the 11-month inactivity on that account is good enough?

@fermentedphil it most certainly is more than enough time to cover the 'inactivity' spread. However, if you do have any funds or crypto over there... you can be active enough to power down and liquidate your positions over there. Soon, it will be time to start muting people in the community... but most that were active over there have taken this last month or so to power down and move their money out. Some cared so little they just left it... but i wouldn't leave money on the table if there is any over there to be left. Just my penny pinching preference.

Oh, I moved all my funds from there when I found my way onto Hive. The only reason why there was some activity on there was due to the actifit application on my phone posting on both sites for some reason. I might have set up the app incorrectly. Even though I was born post-1990, I am not that tech-literate! In any case, thanks again!

Ahh!! Yes, i didn't even think about the apps and actfit etc. No worries. We haven't made the change yet but will soon.

Most everyone has made their choice already... and some that didn't/couldn't/or wouldn't decide to stick around have already quit posting into Photography Lovers.

They will be missed and unfortunately muted soon. But many decided to double down on their commitment to HIVE and now it will help them focus all their efforts and energy here. That's a win-win in my opinion.

Thanks for the line of communication and for the extra info to factor in. Take care my friend. I'm not as techy as i should be either. hahahah

Pleasure is mine! Glad that we could have this chat.

Best of luck forward and I am looking forward to seeing what the community will look like with people paying more attention to their work.

And again, thanks for all the hard work you put into the community.

Hello greetings, I have a doubt, I have a long time without using steemit, but I wanted to know what is the way to close the account, thank you very much for the info.

You can't completely close an account on the blockchain. You can power down your stake there and liquidate, or sell it. You have about $20 worth in your wallet... so you could begin the process of undelegating and powering down. We will be started to execute the actions mentioned in this post fairly soon since it's been a month or two of opportunity for people to make their choices.

I didn't see that you were active other than curation rewards etc. So, you can just drop off or cash out over there. That's really the closest one can get to closing an account.

Hi @castleberry,
Looks like photographylovers blocked my last post.
Can you unmute me?
Undelegated and powereddown the other platforms.
All funds always flowed into Hive and the Hiveonboarding stickercampagne.

The last post in photography lovers was this...
https://peakd.com/hive-194913/@tonyz/todays-theme-is-red
and it's not muted and is visible. It was quite a long time ago, but i am pretty sure that post also made it into the HotShots community curation post. So, everything is all good from what i can tell.

Ah, my mistake!
Only used the tag in this post and not posted in the room.
https://peakd.com/marketfriday/@tonyz/today-at-the-vintage-store
Then it is not visible.
Thanks you so much for clearing this out!

Ahh, i see. That makes sense. Also, you don't have to use OCD or OCDB tags since we don't curate using tags anymore. Save the tag space for something more relevant to the content in the post. I have a custom tag called #ihatetags hahaha
Cheers Tony!
