Some flowers from the home garden | Algumas flores do jardim de casa [EN/PT-BR]

Despite not being a expert of the plants and flowers in my garden, today I decided to photograph some of them and research their names to write a little about them.

The first of them is called large wild iris or moray eel, goes by the scientific name Dietes grandiflora and is originally from South Africa. It is one of the most used flowers in garden landscaping around here.

Then there's what I always thought was a lily, but researching I found out they're called a day lily and have the scientific name Hemerocallis fulva, which is not the same species as the real lily, and it's called that because it usually lasts only a day and then dry. I'll take a closer look at it over the next few days.

The next two flowers are undoubtedly hibiscus, more specifically Syrian hibiscus or Hibiscus syriacus, which curiously is not from Syria, but originates from China and parts of Asia, being the national flower of South Korea.

Then another flower that I believed was a lily, but is actually called crino or Crinum x powellii, also quite common in the landscaping here because it is resistant to the cold and, from what I researched, it is originally from South Africa too.

Of course, a hydrangea could not be missing, a plant that grows here, but which is also not native and originates in Japan and China, countries with a subtropical climate like the southern region of Brazil. The most common coloration is blue, but in iron-enriched soil it also has a purple color.

The red rose, ubiquitous in gardens around the world, is one of the most popular plants here as well and curiously also originates from China. Apparently, we receive a lot more products from China than we think.

And finally, we also have the Dahlia pinnata, popularly known as dahlia, one of my favorite flowers for the beauty and delicacy of the geometrically combined petals. The dahlia gives a huge flower and is originally from Mexico, with the French and Dutch as the main cultivators.

Apesar de não ser um profundo conhecedor das plantas e flores do meu jardim, hoje resolvi fotografar algumas delas e pesquisar os nomes para escrever um pouco sobre elas.

A primeira delas se chama íris selvagem grande ou moréia, atende pelo nome cietífico Dietes grandiflora e é originária da África do Sul. É uma das flores mais usados no paisagismo dos jardins por aqui.

Depois, temos o que eu sempre achei que era um lírio, mas pesquisando descobri que são chamados de lírio de um dia e tem o nome científico Hemerocallis fulva, que não é da mesma espécie do lírio verdadeiro, e tem este nome por geralmente durar apenas um dia e secar em seguida. Vou observá-la melhor nos próximos dias.

As duas flores seguintes não há dúvida que são hibiscos, mais especificamente hibiscos-da-síria ou Hibiscus syriacus, que curiosamente não são da Síria, mas são originários da China e partes da Ásia, sendo a flor nacional da Coreia do Sul.

Em seguida, mais uma flor que eu acreditava que era um lírio, mas na verdade se chama crino ou Crinum x powellii, também bastante comum no paisagismo daqui por ser resistente ao frio e, pelo que pesquisei, também é originária da África do Sul.

Claro que não poderia faltar uma hortênsia, planta que tem como mato aqui, mas que também não é nativa e tem origem no Japão e na China, países com clima sub tropical como a região sul do Brasil. A coloração mais comum é a azul, mas em solo enriquecido com ferro apresenta a coloração roxa também.

Já a rosa vermelha, onipresente em jardins do mundo todo, é uma das plantas mais populares por aqui também e curiosamente também é originária da China. Pelo visto, recebemos muito mais produtos da China do que imaginamos.

E, finalmente, temos também a Dahlia pinnata, popularmente conhecida como dália, uma das minhas flores preferidas pela beleza e delicadeza das pétalas geometricamente combinadas. A dália dá um flor enorme e é originária do México, tendos os franceses e holandeses como principais cultivadores.
