Volando sobre Santiago de Cuba/Flying over Santiago de Cuba ( Esp - Eng)
Hello Hive friends. I had always wondered what it would be like to see a landscape from above, until I had the opportunity to check it out a few weekends ago.This time I want to share with you an experience that for me was very impressive and are images of the city of Santiago de Cuba, but this time, from a different perspective. I am referring to photos taken at an altitude of a little over a thousand meters while I was doing aerial survey work in an An-2 for a project.
I want to tell you that Santiago de Cuba is a city in Cuba, located in the eastern part of the archipelago with an impressive bay and an important port of commerce. It was founded in 1515 by the Spanish conquistador Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar, among the first seven towns in Cuba.
The total area of the bay is 11.9 km; with a coastline perimeter including its keys of 41.35 km and has a maximum length of 8.5 km, constituting a deep sea inlet, in a straight and cliffed coast that barely leaves a narrow channel of communication with the sea.
From my height I could appreciate its cliffed coasts and in them the waves of the sea penetrating, forming coves and inlets; creating a wonderful view to the human eye and to the camera of a lens knowing that it is not seen from the same perspective.
Other photos show the imposing city of Santiago from the air, characterized by multiple architectural styles, from baroque to the most refined neoclassical. Of special interest are the tree-lined parks, the staggered streets, the colonial buildings with huge windows and tight balconies.
It is very famous for being the home of the Virgin of the Charity of the Copper located at the top of the hill of Maboa, 27 kilometers from the city of Santiago de Cuba, is the National Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Charity of the Copper, declared Patroness of Cuba in 1916 and crowned by Pope John Paul II during his visit to Cuba in 1998.
