Carnival Beasts

This is another post about the bell-carriers gathering in Matulji, Croatia during the Carnival 2023. Only this time I have chosen several photos & made them b'n'w for participating in the challenge. Every single photo is from a different bell-carriers group.

One of the most unique & terrifying "bačuga" that I've seen this year was carried by one of the members of "Kukuljanski zvončari". It had a human skull & some animal horns connected together. I am not sure if it was a real skull or an artificial one cause it looked so real. I also tried to take a close shot of it but I didn't manage to do it - all the nearer shot I took were out of focus so I erased them. The best one was this one.

There was one carnival group from Slovenia too cause there is also the same tradition & this group from Vrbišće Šime which has the bell-carriers. It is a special pleasure to see foreign groups participating the parade!

This last photo in this post is pretty emotional - a father & his son together making "zvončarsko kolo".
