My Quest to Finding a Lasting Quality Charger Cord.

My cell phone is part of my life. I can't stay a whole day with a dead phone. For over three years our transformer had developed faults that cost millions of naira. Nobody wants to contribute money to get it repaired so everyone depends on powering their homes with their generators. Since I can only charge my cellphone when the generator is turned on, I, therefore, need a fast charger to help my phone get to hundred percent by the time the generator is turned off.

Mi celular es parte de mi vida. No puedo quedarme un día entero con un teléfono muerto. Durante más de tres años, nuestro transformador sufrió fallos que costaron millones de naira. Nadie quiere contribuir con dinero para repararlo, por lo que todos dependen de alimentar sus hogares con sus generadores. My old charger cord has developed a big fault. Whenever I plug it into the power supply, it either never charges or shows the charging signal but never increases in percentage. I remember when my sister advised me never to buy cheap charging cords from roadside sellers; rather, I should visit any phone shop and purchase a popular brand that would last.

Since I needed a good charging cord that would last, I decided to walk out to the Plaza and visit some phone shops. While going I saw several people selling charges by the roadside. They called me and some had to be running after me to persuade me to buy from them. My sister's advice was ringing in my head even though I felt like supporting their growing business.

Como necesitaba un buen cable de carga que durara, decidí caminar hasta la Plaza y visitar algunas tiendas de telefonía. Mientras iba vi a varias personas vendiendo cargas al borde del camino. Me llamaron y algunos tuvieron que correr detrás de mí para convencerme de que les comprara. El consejo de mi hermana resonaba en mi cabeza a pesar de que tenía ganas de apoyar su creciente negocio.

Before leaving the house, I already made my budget. But I made a very crucial mistake, I forgot that in the country I'm living in, prices of products can change in nanoseconds. The charging cord that got spoiled was bought for three thousand naira, approximately two dollars. Because of this, I budgeted to get this new one for five thousand naira, approximately four dollars. I was surprised after getting to several shops which I visited to see that the prices are over six thousand naira, approximately five dollars.

Antes de salir de casa ya hice mi presupuesto. Pero cometí un error muy grave: olvidé que en el país en el que vivo los precios de los productos pueden cambiar en nanosegundos. El cable de carga que se estropeó se compró por tres mil nairas, aproximadamente dos dólares. Debido a esto, hice un presupuesto para conseguir este nuevo por cinco mil nairas, aproximadamente cuatro dólares. Después de llegar a varias tiendas que visité, me sorprendió ver que los precios superaban las seis mil nairas, aproximadamente cinco dólares.

I left those shops and finally went to De Choice Mall and Eateries. I saw different charger types.

The mall looks so beautiful and stocked up with exotic products.

This was the worst place. As the product I had in mind to buy was the just two packs left and the prices were unspeakable. I was lucky my sister had transferred some cash to me before then which I used to purchase the charging cord.

Dejé esas tiendas y finalmente fui a De Choice Mall and Eateries.

El centro comercial se ve muy hermoso y repleto de productos exóticos.Este fue el peor lugar. Como el producto que tenía en mente comprar eran solo los dos packs que quedaban y los precios eran indescriptibles. Tuve suerte de que mi hermana me hubiera transferido algo de efectivo antes, que usé para comprar el cable de carga.

I took a short walk to these places but I planned to take a tricycle back. My plan failed as my transportation fare was swallowed up together with the cord bill. I managed myself and trekked home.

Before I left the Mall, the charging cord was tested and it was working perfectly well.

Before leaving the house this morning at eight a.m., my battery percentage was ninety-two but since I was used to playing songs of consolation while trekking, it reduced to seventeen percent. I didn't feel this pain, as my joy of having a new and guaranteed charging cord overwhelmed my pain.

I just sacrificed the day to get a good charging cord. This is how a huge part of my day went today.
