Iglesia y plaza Bolívar de Bejuma - Church and Bolívar Square of Bejuma.
Bejuma es un pueblo o ciudad que se encuentra ubicado en el occidente del estado Carabobo (Venezuela). Siempre tenía que pasar por Bejuma cuando iba a la universidad donde estudié en Canoabo. De Valencia, donde vivo, hasta Bejuma el tiempo de recorrido en transporte público era de casi sesenta minutos, y de Bejuma a Canoabo era de casi treinta minutos. Tenía más de treinta años sin ir a Bejuma, lo visité y capturé unas fotografías de la iglesia y de la plaza Bolívar que se encuentra enfrente.
Bejuma is a town or city located in the western part of the state of Carabobo (Venezuela). I always had to pass through Bejuma when I went to the university where I studied in Canoabo. From Valencia, where I live, to Bejuma the travel time by public transportation was almost sixty minutes, and from Bejuma to Canoabo was almost thirty minutes. I had not been to Bejuma for more than thirty years, I visited it and took some photographs of the church and the Bolívar Square in front of it.
Caminé por la acera de la única calle paralela a uno de los lados de la iglesia, las paredes tienen algunos vitrales, y debajo, en la torre de uno de los campanarios, tiene un reloj que si funciona.
I walked along the sidewalk of the only street parallel to one of the sides of the church, the walls have some stained glass windows, and underneath, in the tower of one of the bell towers, it has a clock that does work.
Casi llegando a la esquina de la calle paralela la vista de la plaza es la siguiente.
Almost reaching the corner of the parallel street the view of the square is as follows.
En la esquina de la calle paralela, si se gira a la derecha la vista es la siguiente, donde se ve de lado la fachada frontal de la iglesia.
At the corner of the parallel street, if you turn right the view is as follows, where you can see the front facade of the church from the side.
El campanario que mencioné también tiene un reloj en la fachada frontal que si funciona, el otro campanario no tiene reloj. Las tres puertas de la iglesia estaban cerradas. Encima de la puerta central, la más grande, se encuentra un vitral redondo y encima del vitral una estatua que presumo es de San Rafael Arcángel quien es el santo patrono de Bejuma, y por eso la iglesia es conocida como Santa Iglesia Parroquial San Rafael Arcángel.
The bell tower I mentioned also has a clock on the front facade that does work, the other bell tower does not have a clock. The three doors of the church were closed. Above the central door, the largest one, there is a round stained glass window and above the window a statue that I presume is of San Rafael Arcángel who is the patron saint of Bejuma, and that is why the church is known as Santa Iglesia Parroquial San Rafael Arcángel.
Las siguientes fotografías las capturé inicialmente parado enfrente de la iglesia y luego girando hacia mi izquierda para dar una idea panorámica de la plaza Bolívar. En general, los establecimientos comerciales alrededor de la plaza estaban cerrados y había poca afluencia de personas; quizás porque era un día domingo.
The following photographs I captured initially standing in front of the church and then turning to my left to give a panoramic view of Bolívar Square. In general, the commercial establishments around the square were closed and there was little influx of people; perhaps because it was a Sunday.
Estas otras tres fotografías las capturé aproximadamente desde la esquina de la calle paralela a la iglesia.
These other three photographs were taken approximately from the corner of the street parallel to the church.
Finalmente, unas fotografías de la estatua de El Libertador Simón Bólivar. En la espada de la estatua es notable la presencia de semillas de una planta hemiparásita del género Phthirusa. Las aves consumen los frutos de la planta y excretan las semillas que tienen una sustancia pegajosa que les permite adherirse en cualquier lugar. La posición de la espada permite que las aves se posen y excreten sobre ella; no ocurriría si la espada apuntara más hacia arriba o hacia abajo.
Finally, some photographs of the statue of El Libertador Simón Bólivar. On the sword of the statue is noticeable the presence of seeds of a hemiparasitic plant of the genus Phthirusa. The birds consume the fruits of the plant and excrete the seeds that have a sticky substance that allows them to adhere anywhere. The position of the sword allows the birds to perch and excrete on it; this would not occur if the sword were pointed further up or down.
