En el post anterior les contaba que luego de un trayecto de casi 5 horas llegamos al que sería nuestro festino: Chichiriviche, un pueblito playero en el estado Falcón - Venezuela. Sin embargo, las mejores playas no se encuentran allí, las mejores playas están en "Los cayos" o islotes que se encuentran dentro del Parque Nacional Morrocoy.

In the previous post I told you that after a journey of almost 5 hours we arrived at what would be our festival: Chichiriviche, a small beach town in the state of Falcón - Venezuela. However, the best beaches are not found there, the best beaches are in "Los cayos" or keys that are inside the Morrocoy National Park.

Mi familia y yo decidimos hospedarnos en Chichiriviche y como llegamos al mediodia, decidimos tomarnos ese dia para descansar y hacer una parrillada en la hostal que rentamos, para el día siguiente salir bien temprano a "Cayo Sombrero", una de las islas más bellas del parque nacional morrocoy.

My family and I decided to stay in Chichiriviche and since we arrived at noon, we decided to take that day to rest and have a barbecue in the hostel we rented, for the next day we left very early to "Cayo Sombrero", one of the most beautiful keys in the Morrocoy National Park.

Es uno de los islotes que conforman el Parque Nacional Morrcoy.
La parte negativa de este cayo es que es uno de los más alejados, lo que hace que el viaje en lancha sea de 20-30 minutos. Además hay que atravesar una zona que es mar abierto, así que la experiencia siendo sincera es un poco traumática.

Recuerdo a mi mamá sufrir mucho, fueron aproximadamente 25 minutos de sufrimiento, pero al llegar a la isla, esta es la vista que se tiene... Díganme, si esto no es el paraíso, entonces no sé lo que es...

Aunque existen muchos otros cayos más cercanos a tierra; como Cayo sal, Cayo muerto y muchos otros; todos mis primos insistieron en ir a Cayo sombrero.

Lo cierto es que cuando llegas a "Cayo sombrero" y ves esa agua tan cristalina y esa arena tan blanca, automáticamente se te olvida el sufrimiento de la lancha y entras en estado de paz absoluta😌.

When you arrive at "Cayo sombrero" and see that crystalline water and that white sand, you automatically forget the suffering of the boat and you enter a state of absolute peace😌.

La playa es prácticamente una piscina natural, llana, calmada y sobre todo, cristalina. La arena es blanca, suave y llena de corales.

The beach is practically a natural pool, flat, calm and above all, crystal clear. The sand is white, soft and full of corals.

Esta isla tiene dos 'caras' por decirles de alguna forma. Una cara frontal
que está de frente a la parte continental, es decie, frente al territorio del pais, y luego esta una cara trasera que está completamente abierta al Mar Caribe.
Nosotros decidimos ubicarnos el la cara trasera, ya que tiene muchas palmeras y es una zona más tranquila que la cara principal. La mayoria de los turistas se quedan en la cara principal.

This island has two 'faces', a front face which is facing the continental part, I mean, it's facing the territory of the country, and then there's a back face that is completely open to the Caribbean Sea.
We decided to locate ourselves on the back side since it has many palm trees and it is a quieter than the main side. Most of the tourists stay on the main face.

Ambas playas son preciosas, únicas y relajantes, así que sinceramente no importa cuál de las dos caras de la isla escojas. Disfrutarás mucho en cualquiera.

Both beaches are beautiful, unique and relaxing, so it honestly doesn't matter which side of the island you choose. You will enjoy a lot in any.

Estuvimos todo el día allí desde las 9 am, hasta las 4 pm que nuestro 'lanchero', nos fue a buscar. El paseo en lancha hasta allá nos costó 80$ ida y vuelta y fuimos 8 personas, para un total de 10$ por persona.

We were there all day from 9 am until 4 pm when our boatman went to pick us up. The boat ride there cost us $80 round trip and we were 8 people, for a total of $10 per person.

Sí, todo en la isla es muy costoso. Yo les recomiendo: llevar sillas de playa, llevar su propia comida, sus propios snacks y suficiente agua. Pueden montar todo eso en la lancha y no habrá ningun problema. En cuanto a sombrillas, en la cara trasera de la isla, hay tantas palmeras🌴, que la verdad no es necesario alquilar sombrillas. Vayanse temprano para que agarren un buen 'spot' y listo, ahorrarán mucho dinero.

Yes, everything on the key is veeeery expensive. I recommend: bring beach chairs, bring your own food, your own snacks and enough water. You can carry all that on the boat and there will be no problem. As for umbrellas, on the back of the island, there are so many palm trees🌴, and it's not really necessary to rent umbrellas. Go early so you can catch a good 'spot' and that's it, you'll save a lot of money.
