In Germany they say: "All good things come in threes". So today I present you with the third and final part of my report on the "Open studios in Steinhagen" cultural event. Below I link the first two parts in case you missed them.

Today things are getting hot, because fire plays a central role in the following pictures. The old German nursery rhyme points out the dangers that do not belong in the hands of children: "Knives, scissors, lights are not for little children". In this case, however, the two dwarves had great fun and certainly didn't burn their fingers.
Heute geht es heiss her, denn Feuer spielt eine zentrale Rolle in den folgenden Bildern. Der alte deutscher Kinderreim weist zwar auf die Gefahren hin, die nicht in Kinderhände gehören: "Messer, Schere, Licht sind für kleine Kinder nicht". In diesem Fall hatten die beiden Zwerge aber großen Spaß und bestimmt keine verbrannten Finger.

In the picture above, there was unfortunately some motion blur in the picture. On the other hand, it gives the scene some dynamism. The two were surprised by the resulting flames. It's easy to flinch at times 😉
Im obigen Bild kam leider etwas Bewegungsunschärfe ins Bild. Andererseits gibt es der Szene etwas Dynamik. Die beiden wurden durch die entstehenden Flammen überrascht. Da kann man schon mal zusammenzucken. 😉

It was hellishly hot in the picture above. The model was throwing fireballs in the direction of the camera. So take cover quickly!
Höllisch heiss ging es im Bild oben zu. Das Modell schmiss mit Feuerkugeln in Richtung der Kamera. Also schnell in Deckung gehen!

Don't worry, nothing was burnt. Everything is still standing and nobody was hurt. But how does the fire actually work? You can take the pictures yourself relatively easily. All you need is some fiberglass, a flashlight with a red or orange color filter and a scanner, flashlight or flash to illuminate the model. It's really not that difficult. Put the glass fibers and the filter on the flashlight, turn it on and wave (draw) the flames into the picture. Then light the model with a warm color tone from the same direction from which the "fire" came. That's it!

Keine Angst, es wurde nichts verbrannt. Alles steht noch und keiner wurde verletzt. Aber wie funktioniert das eigentlich mit dem Feuer? Die Bilder kannst du relativ einfach selbst machen. Du benötigst nur etwas Glasfaser eine Taschenlampe mit rotem oder orangenem Farbfilter und einen Scanner, Taschenlampe oder Blitz um das Modell anzuleuchten. Es ist wirklich nicht besonders schwierig. Die Glasfasern und den Filter steckst du auf die Taschenlampe, schaltest sie ein und wedelst (zeichnest) damit die Flammen ins Bild. Danach beleuchtest du das Model mit einem warmen Farbton aus der gleichen Richtung aus der das "Feuer" kam. Fertig!

The Tools
Since I didn't want to light the fire all day for the visitors and fiberglass was used for the pictures above, below are some portraits with fiberglass without fire.
Da ich nicht den ganzen Tag für die Besucher das Feuer entfachen wollte und für die obigen Bilder Glasfaser zum Einsatz kam, folgen unten noch einige Portraits mit Glasfaser ohne Feuer.

It is important that the model keeps her eyes closed while the fiberglass touches her face and especially the eye area. If a fiber pricks the eye, it is unpleasant and painful.
Wichtig ist es hier, dass das Model die Augen geschlossen hält, während das Glasfaser das Gesicht und besonders die Augenpartie berührt. Sollte einmal eine Faser ins Auge piken, ist das unangenehm und schmerzhaft.

Finally, here are two pictures that were created with the help of a Plexistick. The air bubbles in the stick create the stripes in the picture. I love this effect. It's one of my favorite tools. I often use it for portraits. I hope you enjoyed the posts. Maybe they will inspire you to try something similar.

Zum Schluss folgen noch zwei Bilder, die mit Hilfe eines Plexisticks erstellt wurden. Die Luftbläschen im Stick sorgen für die Streifen im Bild. Ich liebe diesen Effekt. Es ist eines meiner Lieblingstools. Oft setze ich es für Portraits ein. Ich hoffe dir haben die Posts gefallen. Vielleicht regen sie dich an, auf diesem Gebiet mal etwas auszuprobieren.
Damit schließe ich das Thema "Open Ateliers 2025" ab und werde mich nächste Woche wieder der Infrarot-Fotografie zuwenden.

What Is Light Painting?
Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
