Hello HIVEs!
Every six months, the AWO (Workers Welfare) in Gütersloh publishes a theme to which artists can submit their pictures. A curator then selects a few pictures and shows them in a virtual gallery. I had submitted two pictures in the past. These also found their way into the virtual gallery. Here you can find the link to the exhibitions
Art in AWO
The current theme is "Summer". Surely summer is a broad theme. Of course, I first think of the sun and long, bright, warm days. The next thought was: how do I represent the sun? What symbols can I use to represent the sun. Then the sun god RE or also RA came to my mind. After a short research I came across the eye of the sun god. Now it just had to be implemented in a light painting.
Die AWO in Gütersloh gibt jedes halbe Jahr ein Thema heraus, zu dem Künstler ihre Bilder einreichen können. Von einem Kurator werden dann einige Bilder ausgewählt und in einer virtuellen Galerie gezeigt. Zwei Bilder hatte ich in der Vergangenheit eingereicht. Art in AWO
Das aktuelle Thema lautet "Sommer". Sicher ist Sommer ein weites Thema. Ich denke natürlich zuerst an die Sonne und an lange, helle, warme Tage. Der nächste Gedanke war: wie stelle ich die Sonne dar? Welche Symbole kann ich benutzen, um die Sonne darzustellen. Dann kam mir der Sonnengott RE oder auch RA in den Sinn. Nach kurzer Recherche stieß ich auf das Auge des Sonnengottes. Jetzt musste das nur noch in einem Lightpainting umgesetzt werden.

The Cover Picture
Last week I met with
@Stepko, Hans, Ramona and Geane in Garto am See at a pole circle to create a light painting with the Milky Way in the picture at night. I reported about it. If you haven't read it yet, you can find the article here:

As you can see in the cover picture, I brought the eye of the RE into the picture in a modified form with a calligraphy tool. Modified? I had looked at the image on my phone shortly before and just went for it. In the process, I simply forgot the eyebrow. 🙄 Since the effect of the picture was coherent for me, I left it at that.

Wie im Titelbild zu sehen, brachte ich das Auge des RE in einer modifizierten Form mit einem Kalligraphie-Tool ins Bild. Modifiziert? Ich hatte mir das Bild kurz zuvor auf meinem Handy angeschaut und einfach losgelegt. Dabei habe ich die Augenbraue einfach vergessen. 🙄Da die Bildwirkung für mich stimmig war, beließ ich es dabei.

The Exercise
In the picture above you can see the first attempt. There I didn't like the illumination of the circle of piles, so I repeated the performance again and chose a red-orange colour filter on an Emisar D4V2 for the cover image.
For sure I will use the eye of the RE more often in my pictures, so I tackled this motif again at home. First I drew the symbol with a square charcoal pencil on a sheet of paper.
Im Bild oben seht ihr den ersten Versuch. Dort gefiel mir die Ausleuchtung des Pfahlkreises nicht, deshalb wiederholte ich die Performance noch einmal und wählte für das Titelbild einen rot-orangenen Farbfilter an einer Emisar D4V2.
Sicher werde ich das Auge des RE noch öfter in meinen Bildern einsetzen, deshalb setzte ich mich zu Hause erneut mit diesem Motiv auseinander. Zuerst malte ich das Symbol mit einem quadratischen Kohlestift auf ein Blatt Papier.
As you can see in the following picture, I practised the performance again in my studio with the calligraphy tool. I think that I won't forget the eyebrow again in my next light painting. 😉
Wie im folgenden Bild zu sehen, übte ich die Performance noch einmal in meinem Studio mit dem Kalligraphie-Tool ein. Ich denke, dass ich bei meinem nächsten Lightpainting nicht nochmal die Augenbraue vergesse. 😉

What Is Light Painting?
Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
