Hello HIVEs!

Still on our way to Paraty and still in a small fishing village called Picinguaba, this time we're talking about the pousada where we stayed.

The architect of the building was involved in art and left behind many sculptures that decorate the pousada. That's exactly what we're going to talk about today. Why not make art with art?

Immer noch auf dem Weg nach Paraty und immer noch in einem kleinen Fischerdorf Namens Picinguaba geht es diesmal um die Pousada, in der wir wohnten.

Der Architekt des Gebäudes hat sich mit Kunst beschäftigt und viele Skulpturen hinterlassen, die die Pousada schmücken. Genau darum soll es heute gehen. Warum nicht Kunst mit Kunst machen?

The Pousada

While my wife chatted with the staff at the bar, I set up my tripod and camera in the adjoining room and prepared for some light painting. The staff were kind enough to switch off the lights in some parts of the premises, allowing me to get started with my work.

Während meine Frau sich an der Bar mit dem Personal unterhielt, baute ich Stativ und Kamera im Nebenraum auf und bereitete ein Lightpainting vor. Das Personal war so nett und schaltete das Licht in einigen Teilen der Räumlichkeiten aus. So konnte ich mit der Arbeit beginnen.

The Sculptures

First, I took a look at a sculpture that looked like an egg and was probably meant to represent a stylised head. Some of the walls of the pousada were constructed using wooden beams. These provide privacy while allowing the rooms to be constantly ventilated. There is no air conditioning here.

Zuerst nahm ich mir eine Skulptur vor, die wie ein Ei aussah und wahrscheinlich ein stilisierten Kopf darstellen soll. Einige Wände der Pousada wurden durch eine Holzbalkenstruktur realisiert. Diese ermöglichen einen Sichtschutz, lassen aber eine ständige Durchlüftung der Räumlichkeiten zu. Eine Klimaanlage gibt es hier nicht.

The Set

I placed one of the sculptures on a stool in front of the camera and illuminated it with a LUMINTOP GT Nano Pro lamp. After exposure, I removed the sculpture from the set.
I integrated these wooden beams into the image by placing them upright and then, by rotating the camera, placing them across the image. The beams were illuminated from the side with an AOAM lamp, first with red and then with blue light. This created the grid structure behind which the sculpture is located. The cover image shows the final result.

Eine der Skulpturen platzierte ich auf einen Hocker vor der Kamera, belichtete sie mit einer LUMINTOP GT Nano Pro - Lampe. Nach der Belichtung entfernte die Skulptur aus dem Set.
Diese Holzbalken integrierte ich in das Bild, indem ich sie einmal hochkant und dann, durch Kamerarotation, quer ins Bild brachte. Beleuchtet wurde die Balken von der Seite mit einer AOAM - Lampe einmal mit Rot und dann mit Blau. So entstand die Gitterstruktur hinter der sich die Skulptur befindet. Das Titelbild zeigt das Endergebnis.

What Is Light Painting?

Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
