Walking to the "Zoo" that Wasn't! 😁| San Antonio Livestock Market!

We really have to be careful when making promises to our kids because they have memories like elephants. They'll remember things we say and promise them even after a long time, and will suddenly bring it up to us one day! Haha.

Hello, winter Cozy Facebook Post.jpg

My daughter and I are in the stage where we negotiate things, like if she does well, I'll do something for her, or I give her a reward. One time, she did something good, and with that, I promised her that I would bring her to the zoo. The kid was so excited and remembered it in her heart.

But we don't have zoo in the province? Haha! What I had in my mind at that time was that I would walk her around in San Antonio, our province's largest livestock market.

The San Antonio market is not the usual market a town has, this market is truly one of kind as it only opens and comes alive every Monday evening until dawn and the main product you'll find that filling this large and spacious market are the domestic animals coming from the different towns and other neighboring islands of Cebu. Yes! That's how big this market is.

Since I cannot bring my daughter on Monday night, it's just too risky because the market gets packed with animals and traders. So I told her we'd get there on Tuesday morning with the hope that there would still be animals left for her to see.

Excited and thrilled to see the animals, my daughter was having a larger stride in her footsteps. We passed through the typical part of the market first, which is the fish and vegetable section. After that, we headed right away to the livestock section.

Unfortunately, there were only a few cows left waiting in the large ruminant area. Uhu, we had clearly missed all the other animals! There were only a handful of cows, but they were of good breed, which still amazed my daughter.

We then moved to the next building, a house for poultry and swine, but there was nothing left in there. All of the livestock were already transported to which location where they would go next, either to their new owners or to the butcher's place.

Since all the livestock were sold and delivered already, I brought my daughter to walk to another part of the market so we could enjoy the view, as there are also trees there and the market is huge too.

I'm glad she wasn't disappointed at all that there were no animals left in the "zoo" except for the cows. Haha. I saw her enjoying this walk as I looked at her from time to time. I knew she was having a good time.

After she got tired of walking, we then headed to buy her favorite snacks and went home. I asked her if she was happy, and she happily said yes. I was happy too and and found myself reflecting that if only humans could be like kids all the time, like kids who are easily amazed, like kids who are easily contented, like kids who are hard to get disappointed, and like kids who could get easily happy with just a simple walk.🤗

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING!

Hehe, well, for children it doesn't matter so much if it is a 'real' zoo or not, what matters is the experience and the feeling of having a nice adventure! 😊

This is very true Ma'am. Though I had to make up reasons why there were no giraffes and zebras. But overall, I'm very happy that my daughter got to enjoy the experience. 😊

awww, sweet kid @callmesmile .. I think she did enjoy the walk.. look at her smile 😊 .. It's funny how the livestock market magically turned into a zoo 😄.. as parents, we really need to be creative for our kiddos.. this shows that for our children it doesn't matter where we go, it's more like who they're with.. with us ❤️

What a good solution. Too bad they sold most of the life stock already.
It must have been great to see her so excited and smiling… still being very happy.
Wonderful moments.
Their memories stay with them haha a great phase… negotiating everything. Enjoy it.
Have a lovely day, thanks for sharing.
