Tabogon's hidden paradise - KABILIN COVE.

avatar

It's when I thought I discovered all the beautiful hidden beaches of my hometown, I found this hidden paradise of the town! A paradise that made me hold my breath as I stared at this beautiful place. Who would have thought that below these steep and fossilized rocks of the coast of Tabogon lies a shelter of beauty that is only seen by few, the Kabilin Cove.

KABILIN COVE

Whoever gives this name made the place even more magnificent and comforting. "Kabilin" in English means inheritance or legacy; its root word "bilin" means to stay or remain. This Kabilin Cove is silently nestling on the hidden coast of Maslog, Tabogon, Cebu. Its beautiful rock formation and fossils and placement of the cove will definitely let you see the splendid work of nature for over a hundred years. Its beauty is enchanting that would make you want to stay. A Kabilin indeed!

Come with me and together let us experience the wonderful Kabilin Cove. Let's go Taraaaaa!

Narrow roads, Green grasses.

The place is only accessible by motorbike or best by walking. Trust me, navigating Waze and using Google Maps has no use at all. The coast is wide and long and the Cove is hidden, and the only way to get to the Cove is by using your inquisitiveness asking the locals, and using your radar to pick up the sound of the waves and the sea breeze. Haha. Yes, that's exactly what we did and guess what, it only made the journey more adventurous and the view? Naahh you'll find it out!

Wide grasslands

Before we reached that grassland, we passed first in the middle of a cemetery (Tabogon Public Cemetery) finding our way out to get to the coast. After roughly 15 minutes of passing through narrow roads and trees, some palm trees with a lovely sky background were what welcomed us.

IMG_20230217_205212.jpg

As soon as we spot the blue ocean, we then followed the narrow roads full of green Cogon Grasses at the side. I could hear the sound of the waves and it got me super excited.

As we were searching and checking which path going down will lead us to the cove, meanwhile, the beautiful view of the seashore was proudly showcasing its beauty to us. As much as we wanted to make a stop, we reminded ourselves that this is just a "side dish" view. The major view is awaiting a few steps from this view.

The Panoramic View

With a little push, we got to the topmost part of the coast. I filled my lungs with air as I watched in awe other God's beautiful creation. The landscape is just so spectacular. The coast, the blue sea, and the clouds scattering above are just so refreshing to look at.

Welcome to Kabilin Cove!

Patios and views

Finally, we arrived at our destination, and we were surprised to see a patio of bamboo benches under the trees which serve as a roof to the small relaxing place. I think this place is made to welcome beachgoers and campers and is also the best spot for picture-taking.

IMG_20230217_210038.jpg

The sign board "kabilin Cove" made of wood caught my attention as it is artistically carved. The patio or this area is the best place for those who want to camp in the place or sleep on their hammocks. When we got there we caught some teenagers enjoying the place together with their partners. Mhmm.

IMG_20230217_205920.jpg

The whole patio is made of bamboo from its fence to its benches. I noticed that the bamboo was strongly tied to each other instead of using nails which somehow made this small patio very authentic.

IMG_20230217_205801.jpg

There were at least 2 to 3 hammocks installed on the trees. The hammocks were inviting me to lie down and take a nap while listening to the lullaby of the waves. How I wish I could at that time.

IMG_20230217_205830.jpg

IMG_20230217_205854.jpg

IMG_20230217_205652.jpg

Aside from the hammocks and the warm welcome brought by this patio, this is the best spot to have a panoramic view of the ocean and the mountain of an island in the background. And the most important thing, this is the best spot to see the COVE and the wonderful rock formation that we are looking for!

IMG_20230217_143945.jpg

What a breathtaking view!

Let's get down to the cove!

The only way to get down to the cove is through this steep hill. Good thing we were wearing a rubber sandals.

IMG_20230217_210056.jpg

Is it the letter E or the number 3? This rock formation greeted us as soon as we got down.

IMG_20230217_210201.jpg
Small beautiful shelter on the coast!

The long journey is over, we are now standing on Kabilin Cove. The cove is tiny and rocky yet eye-catching and breathtaking. In every stroke of the wave, I could see how tiny the cove is yet it stood out beautifully and strikingly.

IMG_20230217_210611.jpg

My baby keep running here and there as if she owns the cove!

The sound of the waves, the sand mixed with seashells, its quietness, the stunning view, and my beautiful small family playing on the shore gave me butterflies in my stomach.

IMG_20230217_210640.jpg

IMG_20230217_210705.jpg

Some logs I found.

IMG_20230217_210912.jpg

IMG_20230217_210821.jpg

The pictures above are the full view of the Cove. This is the best place for a quick escape and to hide away from the crowd once in a while and most importantly, the place to enjoy the seashore privately.

IMG_20230217_210504.jpg

My baby enjoyed the whole experience so much. She loves the place too and wants not to go home!

Incredible Rock formation and Fossils!

Let's get some water splashing first before I'll show you the incredible rock formations of the cove and the fossils we saw.😎

IMG20230212134031.jpg

I strolled around and discovered wonderful fossilized rocks in the cove and some scenic rock formation!

IMG_20230217_211120.jpg

The fossilized rocks at this part of the cove are very sharp.

IMG_20230217_211155.jpg

Some rock formation look like a crater. It's amazing how the waves were able to make big holes like this.

IMG_20230217_211302.jpg

IMG_20230217_211240.jpg

Other craters.

IMG_20230217_211342.jpg

IMG_20230217_211517.jpg

There are also some rock formations that are extended to the sea which made it look like a stage.

IMG_20230217_211531.jpg

IMG_20230217_211214.jpg

The sphere rock.

IMG_20230217_211134.jpg

Fossils!

The Kabilin!

I wonder how old these fossils are.

IMG_20230217_211420.jpg

I also found some fossils on the hills. They look like an inside of a shell. I wonder how they got there.

IMG_20230217_211029.jpg

IMG_20230217_211000.jpg

While other fossils simply lie on the ground.

IMG20230212134503.jpg

IMG_20230217_211042.jpg

Surely there are plenty of fossils out there waiting to be discovered but I couldn't pursue my stroll anymore because my daughter keeps calling me. So until next time then!

Some tips.

-The best time to go there is in the afternoon to avoid the heat of the sun.
-Bring plenty of food, water, tissue paper, and wipes as there are no convenient stores in the place.
-Bring a hammock if you have one.

The cove has so much beauty in it. We had a whole great afternoon there. We also brought some food with us. We had the best weekend in the most beautiful exclusive place in our hometown. My body and mind recharged and my heart is so full of the experience.

That's it about our "Kabilin" Cove experience. Thanks for reading guys. Hope you are all safe and well.

Warm smiles from @callmesmile.🤗
