🌞 Yesterday I Finally Found a Smile

Street Documentary — Lima

Hello dear Black and White community,

After so much walking, searching, and taking random photos, the lady who sells Papa con Huevo a classic here in my countryasked me what I keep photographing every day.
I told her a bit about what I do, and she said: “Take a picture of me, young man.”
Well, I was happy she called me young (lately people keep calling me sir 😅).
So I took the photo… and to my surprise, she gave me a smile.

We talked for a bit. She told me how hard her daily life is, how she keeps fighting, just like so many others in this country full of injustices.
And I guess that happens all around the world.
I didn’t want to get political or anything, so I kept shooting as usual.

It was a rather bizarre day full of costumes, kids and parents dressed up, streets crowded with borrowed traditions, shops packed, total chaos.
Now I’m about to train at the gym, and I took a moment to write this short message.
I just hope that smile lights up everyone’s day, the same way it brightened mine yesterday.

🌞 Ayer al fin encontré una sonrisa

Documental Callejero — Lima

Hola querida comunidad de Blanco y Negro,

Después de tanto caminar, buscar y tomar fotos improvisadas, la señora que vende Papa con Huevo —algo clásico acá en mi país— me preguntó a qué le tomaba tantas fotos todos los días.
Le conté un poco lo que hacía, ¿no?, y me dijo: “Tómeme una foto, joven.”
Y bueno, primero me alegré de que me dijera joven, porque últimamente me dicen “señor” 😅.
Le tomé la foto… y, oh sorpresa, me regaló una sonrisa.

Conversamos un poco. Me contó lo difícil que es para ella el día a día, cómo lucha también, como tantos en este país lleno de injusticias.
Y bueno, creo que eso pasa en muchas partes del mundo.
No quiero ponerme político ni nada por el estilo, así que seguí tomando mis fotos como de costumbre.

Fue un día un poco bizarro, lleno de disfraces, de niños y padres disfrazados, de calles saturadas de costumbres que no siempre son propias, de comercios llenos, un caos total.
Ahora estoy por entrenar en el gimnasio y aproveché para escribir este pequeño mensaje, nomás.
Espero que esa sonrisa ilumine el día de todos, como iluminó el mío ayer.
